Anyone ever installed a polaris m10 from the classic in a 98 xc? Does it fit? How hard is it to do?

Thanks guys

Iwould not be difficult but may be eaiser if you get a mount kit from fast.

The polaris m10 looks different then the fast m10, no?

the fast m-10 is now like the polaris one but shocks and springs are different. There may be a slight difference in mounting but I don't think so. Fast was selling a full polaris version at one time so I am sure they can set you up with a mount kit and instructions. While you are at it get the fast front spring and swap it out.

I think this would be an interesting project. Don't know how much first hand support would be available in case of trouble though.....

The Fast system uses (used?) a bracket on each side of the front. Front torque arm is (was?) not full width of the tunnel. Don't think the Polaris system is like this. I'm not sure why this was done that way, but at the time I was just following the directions (which got me into trouble anyway - another story).

Thinking I have a much better understanding of what's going on at this point, and IMHO, would suggest that if the mounting points were properly reinforced with plates, in a manner that made sense, you shouldn't have any trouble with the conversion. I don't see why these areas would need to be reinforced anywhere near like what Fast supplied with my kit (unless you were running a tinfoil tunnel). Properly installed stock Polaris plates (as used in the factory Xtra install) should provide all the suppport necessary. There are no forces at the mount points of an M-10 that are not present with an Extra or Edge suspension....

So, not that I've done one, but thinking this conversion should be no more difficult than an Edge or other conversion. You'll just need good dimensions for your mount points (hopefully from the donor sled). Thinking it's a safe bet they will differ greatly from the current mounting points. Torque arm center to center dimension is the most important to maintain proper suspension geometry. The rest can be fudged to a certain extent. Make sure the shafts that the torque arms pivot on are free to turn. Otherwise, and you'll never keep the mounting bolts in the rh. side (they try to unscrew a little each time you hit a bump).

Go for it......

Damn it, I new it was too good to be true. Tracks USA is selling these for $325 and listing them as m10 or having m10 "technology"..... I wasnt aware that the xtra12 came in a 136 version. Well it looks like back to doing the edge conversion or pps the xtra10.....what to do :banghead:
jbshocks
that is not an extra 12 either. That is an m10-extra 12 hibred that Polaris put out in there touring sleds. Not a ditch banger but supposed to be comfortable.
