Hey all, well mother nature has done it again, a major wind storm has torn through the Huntsville & Bracebridge area. My parents are on Lake Vernon in Huntsville, there are many many trees down, hydro poles laying across the roads, docks removed, and general damage throughout.
Hopefully nobody here has gotten it too bad.
Good luck

Yea, I wondered what the hell was up today.

We drove down from a wedding on the Island and there were a bunch of downed trees right on the side of #69. Town had come by with chainsaws and cleaned up some of the mess but I could still tell that something went down just recently.

My buddy just got back from the trailer at Deerlake Park just off lake Vernon, they had to pull a tree of the trailer, did some damage to the top of the trailer and destroyed the awning, lucky it didnt squish the entire trailer!!

A buddy of mine from up in the Muskoka area just e-mailed me some pictures of some trees down across his car. Looks like it was quite a wind.

:beerchug: We were up at our trailer this weekend and Friday night was okay but last night was a little scary. In the middle of the night we heard a big bang and after that we didn"t sleep very much. We were waiting for the worst to happen with some big tree to come crashing down on us. When it was light enough We went out and a birch broke in half and landed on the deck by the lake and on my deck just missing the awning. It put a nice dent in my new cooler and just missed my BBQ. The other half of the tree is still up high and wedged between two trees and will come crashing down anytime. We drove around on our quads and there"s a shitload of trees down all over the place. Oh well more firewood to be had. :burp:

They say the winds were nearing 100k! Lots of trees down in our area, alot of trees that were not completely knocked down in the August storm came down with this one. We still have no power at the house and Hydro One is saying possibly not till Wed. School bus can't get through yet. Lots of trail work going to be needed this fall.

I went up to my place near Rosseau Sunday not even knowing about the storm and when I got close I started seeing trees down all over the place and when I turned down the driveway I had a big tree go right across it. Told my old man (he's 75) to stay with the truck and I'll walk up and get the chainsaw, 4 more trees when down across the driveway :banghead: Came back and cut our way up , nothing fell near the cottage but my sun umbrella was blown off the porch clear over the cottage and in the bush (destroyed) other than the trees we did fine. One hell of a tree was on the lines along 141 and they were streched right down to the ground. We had power though, but at 7:30 they killed the power just I was about to get dinner going, pulled out the coleman camp stove and cooked pan fried steak, beans and toast in the dark :div20: Then he says this is one of those days when I'm long gone you'll remember

Well i just got back to check on my place. My good neighbour tied up my boat as my floating dock tore itself off of the base that is was attached to. He also tied up the dock!!
Lots of trees down all over, left huntsville around 6 tonite, saw a couple of hydro crews working as well as a couple of helicopters surveying the lines. Radio said maybe no hydro till Thurs for some areas around Huntsville.
Thanks for the notice spiderman, Im glad I went up today to check on things. Took the chainsaw but didnt really need it although we cant get down our minilane as there was a big tree down int he middle,,didnt have time to cut it away.

Capster, glad to hear everything worked out, good thing your neighbor is a full time resident eh?
Hope everyone else's places are safe and sound. I guess this will make for some extra work for the local clubs to get ready for the season....

My neighbour's cottage 10 mins away from Doe Lake was hit with
several downed trees. Hit the speed boat and the cottage. Not pretty!! :banghead:
Guess I'll be busy this weekend helping clean up and rebuilding.
At least there are a couple ATV's to play around on after.

We got our power back at 5pm last evening, 10 gallons of fuel in the generator since Sunday morning makes it rather pricey for back up power!
Another woman in her 50's was killed last night when a tree fell on her while cleaning up her yard, tragic.
