Ok guys. I'm about ready to get my sled going again and I'm just wondering about how to go about bleeding the oil pump. I'm pretty sure I will want to unscrew the 5/8th? screw next to the inline but I will want to do this and let the oil come out for maybe 10sec while the sled is running correct? Once I first start it.

When I go to put my reeds back in..is there anything I want to put between them and the carb boots? Like formagaskit? or just leave it? Thanks :beerchug:

With the engine off open the bleeder screw on the oil pump and let the oil drip for about 30 seconds. Tighten the bleeder screw and start the engine. Hold the oil pump wide open. After a minute or so rev the engine a few times. Check your lines and make sure there are no air bubbles.

As other forum members have advised me you can run the first tank with premix to be on the safe side. Then check your oil reservoir before you fill up again to ensure the pump is working, the level should have gone down.

The reeds do not require a gasket.

I was told by C-note you can add a small bead with tooth pic of 3-bond on the reeds to make shur they seal good.Worked for me.

Do not run the sled while bleeding, loosen the bleeder on the pump a few turns, watch the oil till no more bubbles come out, leave open a few seconds more and retighten the bleeder, DO NOT overtighten or it will break off, it is hollow. You do not need sealant on the reed cages.

Well....I almost got to starting the sled...was adding the coolant and when it topped off I could hear a drip so I checked it out to make sure it wasn't just run off from the bottle. Look on the clutch side where the cylinder/crankcase meet and here it is pissing out...then it started to come out of the carb :banghead: Could this be a bad gaskit which I would like to think or the crankcase not lined up properly. This engine was put back together from the ground up....I have a good f`7in feeling I will be pulling the engine backout and stripping it down :banghead:

Someone else on here had the exact same problem, I think it turned out to be cylinder base gaskets on backwards??

Bummer, Try it again. :banghead:

I pulled the cylinder off on the clutch side which was leaking and it looks like the base gaskit is defected and dosn't match up for some reason. It left my crank case full of coolant tho :banghead: So we pumped the majority of it out and left it untill tomorrow. Going to pull the engine back out and spray alot of fogging oil into it and clean it out with some air and what not. Then hopfully no more problems.... :drunk:

Defective? Was it a genie Polaris gasket? Personally I wouldn't use anything but Factory (Poo,Doo,Cat ect.) or Cometic brand gaskets. Also make sure to torque them in properly. Improper torqueing is one of if not the most most common cause of gasket failures.

Yup, this was a Polaris gaskit and for some reason it almost matched perfectly but for some reason the side of the gaskit seemed to bow in for some reason cause it not to seal up with the cylinder. On a plus note I had it running for maybe 4-5min mostly at and idle...I held the oil injection pump wide open for this time so I'm sure I got a good dosage of oil in there not to mention I really mixed the gas rich with it. Thanks guys!
