Sold the wifes 600 classic and called about a new 600 IQ LX or FST LX today. When I got the price I almost fell out of my chair - $8000G's for the 600 IQ LX!!!! I didn't even ask about the FST LX. WTF - 8Gs for a 600cc sled - no wonder the industry is hurting! What kind of prices are you guys paying for the 600LX or FST LX???

Yikes.... :banghead:

No surprise here. They are paying exactly what you said you were quoted...maybe a little more here or a little less there. You'll find that Polaris is the most competitive in pricing for the 600 cc sleds though.

I still see no reason the 600 HO Carb should be selling for over $6500 OTD. The economies of scale would work in Poo's favor if they would start slashing their prices down to reasonable levels.

I will likely never buy a new machine again with current pricing being so out-to-lunch. I'll buy used or holdover.

You have to pay the big bucks to be the first to have the latest sleds. They always go for ~MSRP this time of year. Picked my Fuse6 up late last February for $2000 under MSRP. Saved 2Gs by waiting 5 months. I'll never pay MSRP, as its way out in left field.

If we and consumers keep demanding bigger, faster, stronger and lighter they will give it to us but the cost of R&D will be passed on to us. If you don't like the prices you have to buy leftover or used. I bought new this year but did seriously look at an 06 Fusion, just came down to wnating some of the 07 features, I had to Pay ABOUT 1500 for that choice. Now bring on the dam snow! :fluffy: :fluffy:

I snow check a 600 LX paid $8100. Called by dealer today, the sled is not in.

Place here in Michigan is advertising the 2007 600 ho carb for $6450.00. Doesn't include tax, freight or prep but still think it would be around $7100 otd.link
Goobsdaddy
My Dragon was 12,349.00 Canadian which would be about 10,950 US. We are getting hosed.
But then again, we have snow 10 1/2 months a year :lol2: just kidding

Think of it this way; think of the past sleds you bought, add 3% for inflation (conservative #, but for arguments sake) and look at those sleds in 2007 dollars. Then compare for the money, how much more ride, handling, and engine performance/economoy we are getting today for less money. I'll start 1990 Indy 500 about $4800. In 2007 dollars over $7500. Hmmm for that price I can get a 600HO OTD. 40 more hp, double the travel, better ride, and reliability. How about a 1994 ZR 700 for $7000. That is over $11,000! I also know that people will argue that there are economies of scale that come into play, and you can't simply apply the 3% every year without applying reductions in Manufacturer's cost due to new technologies that lower their fixed and variable costs of the units they produce. True, but that is the beauty of technology, we are getting MUCH better sleds for the same price we paid 15 years ago, when you adjust the dollars for time.

Long and short of it, we are not paying more for sleds, we are paying about the same price for much better sleds when you apply the time value of money principle.
