Just got a set of factory Polaris skis for my 500 edge project, what wear bars should I get?
I want a set of 6"or 8" carbides. The new skis are a little different than my factory skis on my 98 700, being that these new ones have the center keel and an outer keel on each side. Basically it's an "M" section. The factory ones on my 98 700 only have the center keel. On that sled I have been running those Bottom Line Agressors with the 1/2" bar, 10" of carbide, 75 degree they seem to work well but I was wondering if there's anything better?
I can post pics of the skis if needed.

Thanks, Daryl

stud boy shapers you can get 6" 7.5" or like 9". id just get the 6's in your case, the skis are good and the carbides work exceptionally well

I ran the shapers and find that they work really well but I feel that woodys hold up the best.

Bergstrom makes the best runners by far!!!!

I second the Bergstroms.

Shapers work awesome until you catch something with them when your turning. Good thing i got these 90$ carbides for half off or else id be really mad. Not even 500 miles on these. Though, i may give them a second try because i really thought they worked well. Its just that the design of the hourglass to catch snow to help you turn also helps to catch other objects instead of rolling over them like round bar might.

Shapers work well for me. I run the great big ones. On my third season I landed hard on some concrete and broke both bars right under the spindles. The bars were shot but the carbide inserts were still good.
Octane
Id buy a set from CB Performance. Best ones on the market!

i find bottom line carbides to be good for the money u can get a set of 8 inch with the big bars for around$50 and they seem to last good.

While I'm not a huge fan of these, just wanted to temper this comment with the idea that I've done this a few times with round bars also. Stuff happens. In the group I run with, this has to be happening at least once a year. Sleds starts pulling to one side.......

Who sells the bottom line? That sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I run a lot of marginal conditions (like the rocky railroad grade north of Gaylord in northern lower Mi), so have a tendency to wipe out whatever I bolt on frequently. The Polaris EZ steers work pretty well if you can find a good source for the replacements. I like the idea that I can rub a set completely off and still make it home on the flat stock without tearing up a pair of skis. Like anything with 1/2" bar stock if I can't find what I'm used to (Woody's).

Running Bergstroms now on my xcr and xc700, along with the 3/8" ski-savers. Seems to work good so far. Our conditions vary a lot , from crappy to marginal to great , not enough miles on them yet to say how they wear compared to what I used previously.

I'm also used to straighten out bent carbides, put them in a vise and hit with a BFH until straight grin.png

No, i know it happens with all the bars, ive had it happen to a pair of round bars also. But it wasnt anywhere to the extreme of these. Its just that they are more likely to than a regular round abr. I really did like the shapers and I probably will be buying more sets in the near future.

Also, my friend ran bottomlines on his doo with precision skis and they only lasted him about 30 miles before they were destroyed. They didnt really tuck up into the ski like suposed to and he caught them goign over a railroad track. Tore the shit out of them and had to throw them out right away. Not saying that these are bad carbides, but its just another one of the experiances weve had.

1/2 easy steers, 8" 60 deg carbides. Install them directly- no adapter plate. Drill recesses where runners hook. Eliminates darting and puts lots of pressure. Best mod I have done to sleds short of USI's.
