I was talking to buddy i work with. And he was saying there club held there annual farmers breakfast. And alot of the farmers in his area are talking about another protest and not letting the clubs stake there land this year. Lets hope it is not true. Has anybody else heard anything.

We faced the same story in Québec last year.

That's what I thought all along.

Shouldn't the farmers be trying to get us on their side? It wouldn't be that hard. Get the OFSC on board and all the clubs.

Instead, they make enemies out of us........

The money the governments promised is peanuts.
Most of us are onside with the farmers, but until governments feel it, in the form of taxes, votes or business loss, our goodwill means nothing.
Don't gripe too loud about the land owners, when this blows over we don't want to have to rebuild good relationships.

Nobody is picking on landowners just this plan will result in nothing other than closing trails, the government is not going to listen. We have zero clout in the rural areas only care about Toronto and the like.

this is the problem with the papers, they give the total amount of money given to farmers, yes it is nice but the farmers that i have spoken to have got there cheque from the govt' for about $26-$45 .
FARMERS FEED CITIES, IF YOU HAVE EATEN TODAY, THANK A FARMER :beerchug:

can't agree more. Gov't doesn't give 2 shits about snowmobile trails in huron county, let alone the rest of the province.

Farmers are making enemies out of us, and to be honest we can probably kick their ass!!! :tease: (and help them get what they want if they didn't alienate us and destroy our sport!!!)

If the trails close and they protest, I'm going to protest too!!!! I won't buy anything from farms in huron county EVER again!!!!! how many people would join me in MY protest?
Spiderman
I will, I will stop buying any Canadian food products, period
capster59

Our farmers will be really happy to hear that! :frech32:

k put it this way soyabeans are around $5.50 a bushel back in the 70'5 and 80's my grandfather sold them for as much as $11.00 a bushel. Does that make sense to anyone. A tractor would be around $15,000 now the average tractor is around $90,000. How about all you hourly workers take a pay cut and see if you complain. People shouldnt bitch if they have no idea what they are talking about. And PS it is they re land and if they want to protest to prove a point then they should. Hopefully it pisses enough of you off that you protest too and then it will be the chain reaction that they are looking for. $5.50 a bushel doesnt even cover operating costs! Sorry guys had to vent

fuk em... is what I say if they're going to blackmail me and my favorite past time.

they better get their heads out of the sand, take a step back, and realize what they are doing, but more importantly, what they would like to do.

I support our farmers and buy local products over foreign ones as much as I can. But don't tell me to support farmers who are using gutless tactics to get a point accross - a point that I say is lost.... lost because nobody give a shit about snowmobile trails, except snowmobilers.

If this was a land-use issue, where loud "cans" & druken sledders "ruined" someone's farmland - I would not be as vocal. But this issue has 0 to do with us. We're pawns in their little chicken fight.

GO FUCK YOURSELF BEV HILL AND ALL WHO JOIN YOU, IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE OUR INSIGNIFICANT SPORT AS ANY KIND OF BARGAINING TOOL I promise using us and the trail system will get you left so far behind you'll be farming for shrimp in the mississippi delta!!! :no_bashing:

Take others advice and ask us for our support, instead of alienating us. We can be a very powerful group so don't underestimate what we can accomplish TOGETHER.

2 headS are better than 1 :div20:

Don't care! and how would you expect me to? I can say some of the same shit in my job! so can a lot of people. & guess what, I've sold shit that was big one year and the next nobody wants to talk to you & I never received any gov't subsidies when my sales plummeted!!!!! guess what I did? if you guessed "started selling different products" you would be correct!!!!

Quit yer bitching and do something about it!!!! this isnt a regional issue, its a national issue! closing a few trails in nowhere land (sorry if you think where you live is important, but you and your farms are insignificant, sorry...) will solve nothing and get you nowhere!

so what will happen in your scenario is they protest by closing the trails, then we protest them closing the trails, then we have created a huge rivalry, then some idiot decides he's gonna take the trail (that's closed) he's been riding his whole life and bango into a wire fench that the farmer put up to keep tresspassers off his land-dead.

what happens now? how much does a bushel of soyabeans cost after this is all said and done?

lemme guess: $5.50?

Sled Dude,
Farmers owe you nothing.
Fuck 'em?
Know what they'll say
Fuck you!
Enjoy riding the UP 'cause
you aint gonna ride on our farms

I'm glad you dont speak for the OFSC
jacey
Im pretty sure that farmers are only going to hate hot heads like you sled dude. Your one of those people that have no idea but always has an opinion.
killer
My opinion is go fuck yourself if you are going to use snowmobilers to attempt at proving a point... I don't know how you can be an avid snowmobiler and fall for these tactics! Its childish really.

They will loose a lot of respect from not only our community, but also those that they are negotiating with. did either of you slowpokes every realize this?

there is no logic in this arguement... no rationalization! why snowmobile trails?

does nobody have anything better to do in the big . pennisula?

bloody wankers!

& I enjoy the UP, but don't ride there often. I get to ride up north where farmers are not a concern.
I understand there are issues, but my point has been very well documented along with others: DON'T USE OTHER PEOPLE TO DO YOUR DIRTY WORK! IT WON'T GET YOU ANYWHERE!!!!!!!

Jacey you never answered my question... how much do you think a bushell will go for after they close the trails? I'm actually interested to hear your answer!

I've been through hard times, and still do!!!! I know what its like to loose a market - why do you as a farmer think you're any different than anybody else?

& if I have no clue, but all opinion why don't you attempt at reputing it???

because I'm right!!!!!!!

Like me or hate me, its not about ME! I do have an opinion and I express it differently than some people & in case you forgot this WEBSITE!!!! is called hardcoresledder!!!!!! so go hardcore fuckyourself lol.gif wank! you and the farmers go suck a cow tit!!!!!! haha
ICEMAN!
What do you call 50 farmers in the basement?

A whine cellar.

Alright I know it's old, but appropriate.
Spiderman
thats actually pretty funny, it might be old, but still funny.

Sled Dude may be coming off a little agressive in some peoples opinion, but I have to agree with the heart of his point. I don't personally like being used as a pawn in a protest and like Sled Dude, by attempting to destroy snowmobiling in certain areas to attempt to get government attention, will not win over my loyalty and only upsets me, and for as long as the trails are closed for thesereasons, i'll make sure to only purchase non Canadian products.

who in their right mind would want to do that :frech32:

Well said Dude :div20:

The farmer should have asked for our help

But now they have alienated another group

Why don't they block the 401

I have to agree 100% with this. Good post Sled Dude and Spiderman!
BlackStar
I live acrossed the road from a major farming operation. One of the owner's is a friend and a sledder. He thinks the protest is just retarded and doesn't have much backing.

But in every bushel of apples there's bound to be a few rotten ones.

I feel for the farmers but if they use this tactic its hard to be sympathetic.

I realize that farming is a way of life for these people but so was factory work for hundreds who were let go from Imperial Tobacco last year. A changing market pushed Imperial to Mexico. Thoughs jobs will not return. Should the government have stepped in and saved those jobs? As important as farming is, its still a business and has to change with the market. The days of the 100 acre family farm are dead. Corporate farming is profitable and thats why the government won't lend support.
