Got my new Snow Tech today

DRAGON

139.1 hp @ 8100
91.5 ft lbs @ 7800

"755"

138.5 @ 7500
99 ft lbs @ 7200

The number are very similar, the Fuse will probably need a bit of a diet but it looks do able to me, what do you guys think dunno.gif , I think it could be a good race, not much runs away from my "755" except for topend F7's included :no_bashing: , hoping that the DRAGON does better on top end.

With the 'same' HP numbers and more torque for the 755, I would give the edge to the 755. Another thing, the lower rpm of the 755 makes the CVT (clutch) more efficient.
W.F.O.
I hope for polaris's sake that those #'s are from a fat tuneup, cause there are a few F7's tha come in over 140 stock.
con-fusion 700
I would say it'll be a close one. The few extra pounds the Fuser has should be, at least, offset by the extra torque the "755" makes. And being that both sleds share the same chassis, I don't think the Dragon will have any better top end then the Fuser.

When comparing both sleds "corner to corner", I will go out on a limb and say the Fusion may have an advantage due to the mucho torque at lower rpms, that really yank you out of a corner. The Dragon engine is more of a "revver", and may not give the "snap" when wacking the throttle open mid-corner.

Of course, I could just be talking out my arse............... dunno.gif dunno.gif :smilielol: :burp:

If you guys think the 755 is going to run with the dragon in the trails your nuts. The dragon is 50LBS lighter the the 755 fusion. They might have close topend #'s, but the dragon should walk away out of the hole being 50 lbs lighter.

Guess I'll have to make sure I have 7gallons less fuel on board then he does when we race or at least be sure I take a good healthy crap before we go at it :div20: :div20: :frech32: :frech32: , do you really think 50# is going to make that much difference in acceleration?????? I have ahard time believing that but maybe thats the case, my sled doesn't feel or seem any quicker when it is low on fuel vs when it's full dunno.gif . I think outta the hole is where the Fusion will give the Dragon the most trouble but thats just me, guess 0-80 or 90mph is where my Fuse is most impressive to me dunno.gif. I think the 50# will come up more in handling, bump capability, and top end speed IMO

On the trails, the Dragon MAY have an edge due to the lighter weight..? dunno.gif I could never really feel the weight difference between my bro's xc-600 (485 lbs dry) and my tugboat (525lbs dry) riding them back to back.................

I think the extra feets-pounds of torque of the 755 will pull the extra tonnage just fine when going up against the Dragon. I'm not saying the Dragon won't perform.....it will, but the 700 Fusers are no slouch, and have gotten a bad rap.

Gettin2Old
Torque is where it's at.

I don't care if it is a sled, car, or bike, it doesn't matter torque is KING!!!
sb-liberty
The 700 Dragon runs at a higher rpm, that means it can run better gearing, and that would = out the torgue loss compared to the 755.
fusion900
The 755 is no joke. My brother-in-law has one in an 06 rmk and it rocks. Not much less power than my 900.
Doomsday_Sled
True torque is king but the power is said to come quite a bit faster in the new 700 and with much less of a stroke it ought to. I'm putting my $$$ on the Dragon. Power to weight does make a difference which is why the F7's are so fast and not because some of them come in at 140 horse like the AC guys dream they do. The press say it runs more like an 800 than a 700 but the proof will be in the pudding. BRING ON THE SNOW!!!
prose
The .tech article I read (Sept.)stated 140 hp, they also stated the dragon had 4hp more than the firechicken..........Does the "755" run with f7's ? If it doesn't, I would say the dragon will beat the 755, no one knows for sure until the snow fly's.......... :beerchug:
Matt
SLP's testing procedures always seem to yield a little lower numbers than other places. I'm waiting to see what DTR pulls out of the Dragon since they seem to have a great repeatable process applicable to every sled they test.

That said, I highly doubt the 755 will stick with the Dragon. The 700 CFI is basically a stroked 660 with a beefed-up, higher-flowing case. I've never seen a 660 run the 755, but I've seen 660s make ported 800s and stock 900s look silly.

We'll know in a few months I guess...
waveraven
It shouild be interesting the Fuse has the torque but the Dragon should be lighter. I wonder if the 755 wil get the jump but the Dragon will catch up dunno.gif

I also curious to see how my 600 cfi runs against my buddies 755. It should pound me but it will be fun to see how close it will stay or not grinning-smiley-023.gif

From what I've heard when Polaris had the 07's in Munising in March. The 700 dragon had no problems beating the 900 fusion. So if it was beating the 900 I would think it's going to beat the 900's little brother.
con-fusion 700
Polaris had their newest, largest engined (2-stoke), latest and greatest sled beat their out-of-prodution, biggest, most-screwed-up sled they ever made (public perception).........................

I would have NEVER saw that coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dunno.gif :smilielol: :smilielol:

In the REAL world, I don't see a Dragon taking out a correctly running 900 Fuser.........

Sorry, I can see it. The 600 HO practically does it all by itself, let alone a 700...

Yep, one of the guys in my club just dumped his 755 and he had his hands full with 600HO's.

The 600HO's run pretty good, but......................... 120 HP vs 150 hp???????

The guy in your club musta had something amiss with his sled. dunno.gif Couldn't spank a 600???

I have raced my buddies modded xc-800 (which runs with the best running F-7's) a million times, and we are nose-to-nose from 0-top speed (about 103 mph). My sled only has an airbox mod.

I haven't run any 600 HO's yet, but I am anxious to pit my "paint-shaker" against one, and even more so to run an 07 Dragon........................Should be fun!! :div20:

You guys way under estimate the 755. I'll put mine up against any thing. I might not win em all but you will be suprised. Torque is were it is at baby.
actionfigurejoe
The Dragon is more than just a new motor. The chassis has trimmed weight and made more rigid. It's not like the chassis needed much anyway. It was the motor that needed addressing. I've never been a fan of the long stroke motor Polaris chose to use. Neither the 755 or 866 impressed me. To much weight with an over complicated air intake. I do like the idea of the new "small block" 700. Clean and simple. IMO, Polaris has finally woke up. All they need now is an entry level sled and a big bore, say an 800, and all will be well again in Roseau.

Yeah, whatever...
con-fusion 700
I really am still somewhat miffed at some of the thinking that went into the "long-stroke" engines.......

755 and 866??? Why those particular displacements? And why are they so heavy??

I do like the torque these engines generate, and the CFI seems to work well as far as I am concerned.

I also would like to know why Polaris is competing in the 700 class when that class doesn't exist anymore. dunno.gif
I think they should have just made an 800, then could have brought out a 1000 the following year....

Alright!!!! I've got an 06 755, and never lost to a 600 of any make. And for what it's worth, with a junk torque stop that was completely flattened, I raced an 06 Rev 800X, and in 1000', I lost by 1 sled length. You do the math!!!!!!! dunno.gif

Believe what you want after all the problems he had he bought a pair of Attak and Apex GT's for him and his wife. This guys been on Polaris for years. He replaced two starters, had his reverse break on him among other things, it shook like a ZR700 and got crap fuel economy. You guys say there must have been something wrong with it...you're absolutely right there was a ton wrong with it. I rode it and was not impressed one bit. I've been riding Polaris for 6 years now and never seen such quality issues.

150 hp, what are you dreaming of, the 755 confusion sled has 138 hp. You want 150 horse you better trade that sled in for a cat. :drunk:

I know how many HP my sled has there smartguy. If you actually READ the post I was responding to, the typist said a 600 would just about take out a 900 Fusion, let alone a 700.......................

The 900 Fusers (06) have 150 HP........................

And you don't have to tell me how many HP your big bad F-7 has...............I already know it's somewhere around 5,000 or so.....according to you Cat guys....................... :frech32:

Shit man we need some snow bad. I could care less what ya ride, if you ride, your ok with me. I am glad your 755 runs good for you,, its too bad it only lasted one year. Same here!!!! Smoked 1 torque stop, but never ate a belt. 885 trouble free miles. I think I'm gonna install the SLP torque arm before the snow flies. Just for added protection.....

I ride with a bunch of crazy bastards who love to ride hard, you could consider me one of the bunch. So, pushing the "755" as hard as I did and I only flattened a torque stop, I'll take that!!!!! And losing to an 06 Rev 800 by only 1 sled length is not bad.....IMO :div20:

My torque stop split somewhere between .1 and 110 miles....noticed it was junk at 110 miles.
The replacement stop SEEMS to be holding up well, but I have only put 330 miles on it since then.
I wonder if the stop was "updtated", or is it the same POS part that was put on from the factory...? dunno.gif

Sounds like you ride with a crew similar to mine. :div20: Sleddin'with crazy bastard buds is too fun!!!!!!!!!!! :div20:
