guys
help me out
after riding the IQ last year a couple of times, even for short distances, it's obvious the 2003 stock seat has to go. I'm 6'6" and the higher the seat seems all the better for me.
What do you suggest?
A stubby off a X2?
Stubby too short for a tall guy? No room for trail babe either. Just kiddin'
Boss high rise seems like the best choice but hell, $500!!??
I picked up a 2005 IQ racer seat that looks good but it turns out to be only like a 1.5" higher and doesn't integrate into the gas tank very well.
How much higher than my stock seat is a short seat off a X2?

just for comparison,
i put a 440 short seat on my 03 xcsp, and it was 3 1/4 taller

x2 seat is too low... XR seat at a minimum, but the foam will soften and compress also...
boss is more roomy and the foam doesn't flatten out and comrpess like the oem seats do... and it's lighter by about a pound... some don't like the look, but you can't deny the feel and performance of it... i got mine for about 425 or so...
i went from the standard 03 seat to a 440xr seat, then to the boss, couldn't be happier, every sled i own from now on will have a boss

I ordered a BOSS for my sled after listening to Bonz50 praise them all the time. LOL :tease: If it's not as good as he says it is, it's his fault. j/k :frech32: I can't wait to get my Boss seat, it should be here the end of this week or next week sometime I hope. After sitting on my Brother's MM700 w/BOSS highrise I'm convinced it really is the only way to go.

I had the same issue at 6'5". Went to the X2 seat when the sled was brand new and rode it for about a month with that. The foam broke down and it wasn't high enough. Also wasn't versatile enough as you could only sit in one spot.
Went with the hi-rise Boss and will never ever look back. I have a 660 and a Hyperlite and I would put the Boss ahead of both of those as my best mod! Shop around. But if you're going that route, get your order in ASAP if you want it by January.

To the guys with the boss seats, Are they long enough for a passenger?

Yes. Like I said, I'm 6'5". With my bars rolled forward a bit, I had no problem with my ex gf riding behind me. Granted she was a tiny Asian girl... ha ha
Average us out and we were normal size and the 2 of us fit fine.

personally I would say no, unless you're talking about less than a 5 mile ride...

I'd have to agree. :cn:
I said I was gonna wait but I went an took some pics anyway. The seat is just sitting on the sled right now. Snaps and velcro aren't installed yet. Kinda crappy pictures. :burp:

I sent down payment on July 17th and received the seat about a week ago. Although I could've had it about a week earlier had I not kept forgetting to send off the remaining balance due. A little under 2 months I guess.

When I picked up the box that the seat came in I didn't even think the seat was in there, that's how light it is. It's VERY light, but yet supportive and the foam doesn't have that sinking feeling. I can't wait to try it out in the snow.

you are gonna love that seat... the top covering material will make you wonder how guy with that slippery azz 440 seat ride and stay on that bar stool... my bro weighed his stock rev seat vs. his new boss and it was 15lbs vs. 6lbs for the boss... and better foam that never sacks out and is more comfy... you're gonna wonder why it took you so long to buy one
