What do you guys think of these sleds? It has the M-10 and is Mint. The owner is very maticlous. I bought my first sled from him. It has very low miles. i think around 2000 and i think he wants about 4000 for it. I know the price may be a tad high but the sled is in showroom cond. What do you think?

that was a good year for the 700, is it a edge x?
doug1991
yes. I believe so. It says edge XC on the cowl. Also says "edge ifs" on the front trailing arms.

Price is very high I think.
3 years ago I bought a 2002 700 Edge for $2000, and a 2002 800 Edge for $3000, both low mileage in good condition, they were however, not M-10 sleds.

No, the 800 came from a salesman I know at the local GM garage in Hayward, had 1,800 miles on it, and the other came from a customer who couldn't make his child support payments. This spring I bought a 2001 XCR 800 for $500, the engine had waterpump seal problems, and wrecked the crank bearings, and the track was junk, he didn't want to pay us to fix it, owed us some money already for labor, so sold it cheap. We see all kinds of deals on sleds in my shop, guys don't take care of them, then don't wish to spend the money for repairs, so I buy some of them. The Edges were in good shape however.

Nice sled for sure. $4000 doesn't sound too bad and if that's his asking price you can probably get it a bit cheaper. If you know the guy and he takes care of his stuff that makes a huge difference as well. If he buys a new sled every couple years and you keep buying his used sleds you'll be saving a ton of cash.

I'm sure you'd be happy with the new ride.

My wife has an 03 600 Blue Edge X package with M-10, Mech. rev and Elec Start and the dealers are saying in the $4000 range.

It's 02 but has the 700ves... Sounds fair enough, it's clean and you know the owner. I had one and it was faster than my 04 700. Good Luck!!

I would say the price is between 800 and 1k high. IMO the M10 is not an upgrade, but I do like the '02 700 motor.

How would you say the handling is on this sled? I rode a 06 fusion last season and it felt tippey, Will the 02 XC feel like this? I really want something that is really comfortable but also handles well.

I disagree that the M-10 is not an upgrade. Try to find one for the same price as a regular XC.
I would have paid $500 more, but could not find one. I have an '02 Edge "X" with M-10 and the ride's even better than I had hoped for. Now my wife wants it for her to ride! That sled around here, without a M-10 would go for $2,800 to $3,300 with 2,000 miles on it, add $500 for an M-10 and you are close, but out in your area, prices are probably better (higher) on sleds too.

I like the handling on the XC, sold my '02 and got an '05 and am not sure if the '05 is better or not.
On the '02 and '03 XC's we take out some of the front spring pre-load and it really helps the ride and handling, IMHO. Lift the front of the sled under the bulkhead, so no weight is on the skis. Loosen the spring pre-load collar untill the springs have zero pre-load. Re-check after a while as the OAL can get shorter and the spring keeper could fall out on bumps. Move the both scissor stops to "High", and it will handle like it is on rails. If you like wheelies move the rear ones to low.

I'm trying to sell a 02 700 EdgeX. I wish I could get $4000. I'm listing it at $3500 and that includes a cover, spare belt (used), I have a 2" bar riser, BlueChrome Sportech windshield, the original smoke windshield.

This sled has been absolutely bullet proof, I had the suspension gone through and have always took care and stored it.

I know a couple buddies that need/want a sled but they don't want to spend more than $2000? I can't convince them that newer sled technology is that much better than what we had from the mid - 90's.
