alright guys dont tell me to just do a search because i have and i just find setups for the older zr's which had a less hp motor. i have an 01 zr600efi vev le and i want to race it at the grass drags. 660ft. i need some help setting it up. i talked to a guy around here i know thats sponsored by a local dealer now and he told me i should have engagement around 5000 and to top out around 7800? also that i could gear it and more studs wouldnt be a bad idea, but not really needed. he said hes had good luck with heavy hitters for weights but i was just curious if you guys could give me some ideas on what to use just to get me to a starting point so im close to where i need to be so i just need to fine tune it. and where can i get a recall tach? thanks guys i really appreciate any help.

Me no grass drag expert

I had red cat primary, yellow sec and 55/53 before and was reving 8700 which is 300-400rpm too high

engaged 3700 with red primary spring

I now have yellow/green Cat primary spring,green EPI secondary(108LBS) and 57/51

engage 4700

I liked that set up but my weights were way too light I had 52 or 53G and was over reving to 8900

yet I still got over 100mph on the dream meter on a ice covered road

stock gearing 20/39 and 96 studs

might try 18 tooth and 56gram weights to bring my RPM down

most of my riding is in the 40-70mph range

+ I am getting a Ripsaw grinning-smiley-023.gif

Sorry for babbling grinning-smiley-023.gif as you are looking for grass drag set up and not trail

There must be someone on here that grass dragged the ZR600s before

I used a Supertorquer (Heelclicker) setup in mine for the grass back then. I still have it, weights, springs, heelclicker primary clutch cover and two helixes if your interested, one for 500' and one for 660' I had 19/40 gears, stock airbox opened a bit, 2 degree key (a must have) and jetted real lean down around 250s, needles dropped. It ran very stout for the day with a 150 lb rider. It would crush my 100% stock non clutched efi F6 in 500-660 all day. $80 shipped, engages hard at 5400-5500 (legal limit to race) and spins whatever the peak rpm are immediately 87-8800? , does not overrev as you go. just pulls. You do need to drill three 3/8 holes in the clutch, 20 mins., to make the weights fit, but when your done the regular ones go right back in. You can run this setup all year but it does not backshift for crap, will bog on the trail of you let off and try to get back on it hard, needs 19/39 to run 1000' on ice. you can get a sno-pro newer style sixtower clutch to save rotating mass, it helps that engine in 500'. I may still have the gears too, cheap. if your interested. In NY.
