As part of my tripple edge conversion I want to go 136 maybe 144. I have done the polaris 136 kit on a couple sleds and like them except for the price.
The prox kit had a new rear torque arm included but the xc kit never. Both relocated the rear mounting bolt. Anyone have an answer for why the xc kit does not have the torque arm or the other does?

How about saving a few bucks. Can the slide rails be found on another sled, was there a factory 136 edge? I know there is extensions ,and I may go that route, but I like full rail right now. Drop in a 144 S/B suspension?

What about the heat exchanger strips. I like the fact that the 136 heat ex stiffen the extension but is it necessary ? I wonder how much the end of the 136 contribute to cooling as the hose conections stay in the stock spot. There is alot of dead spot in the end.
Options would be stock 121, 136, 121 with aux cooler and 136 with aux cooler.

Also my ifs springs have sagged some as my ride height has dropped. Am thinking of replacing them instead of just cranking them up. Same with the rear springs.
Tripple will add some weight also so did any of guys go with diff spring(s) and shock valving?

The instructions said to move them so we moved it in the prox. the xc had the fishbone braces in the way so left it in stock position. No issues with either sleds, 2 winters on the pro and one on the xc. Yours work good also?
I can speculate on why they move them but I don't have proper answer to that. Better to remain quiet than post bad info.

well it seems to ride ggood, but might ride better if i moved it, might have to try it,

thanks

Lots of questions.....

Most I talk with and read about are stretching their sleds with extensions - by at least 10:1. I have NEVER heard anybody write or talk about a problem with the extensions made/sold by Trackusa. Polaris kits are expensive and hard to justify. Most that buy them do so just cuz.......

No such thing as a 136" Edge which is really a damn shame. Polaris has a history of missing the mark.

S/B's have no coupling available - which badly limits trail/bump performance in my book.

New heat exchanger strips are not required unless you were running into problems earlier. Extension plenty strong enough without them if properly installed. You do need to locate something in back of the standard coolers as the track lugs will catch on them when the suspension bottoms out if you don't. Not a big deal, wedge cut from old hyfax, square alum. tubing, lots of stuff has been used.

Stock Edge IFS springs are wimpy, period. If you buy a brand new set, they'll still be wimpy - even when new with a twin the primary winding are nearly coil bound. Cranking springs up to increase ride heigth a good way to get into handling (early inside ski lift) problems. Ask around for opinions about what you should use regarding how you plan on using the sled. Lots of different ideas here. Suggest you do get something other than the stockers. Stock rated at 68/160. There were some available for the 04 Edge (if memory is working right - could be an '05?) that are progressive wound like the originals, but rated 90/180 (?) that work pretty good. Others prefer the straight wound in 120 or 130 ratings. Thinking the stock XCR's (stiff) were the 130's. Make yourself crazy.....something else to tune.

Those that used the Polaris kits, but maintained the original rear mounting location - I have no doubt you are getting a good ride from the new rails, but wonder if you are getting any coupling? Seems like the link would be leaning WAY forward - just wondering if it is even able to contact the RRSS block? Never heard the official reason for the 2" difference, but can't help believing that the new location supports/strengthens the rails a little. Would also keep the back of the machine down a little (not as top heavy?)

i moved my mounting hole too, said it in the directions.

just found my instructions for the edge 136 install,
the NEW rear mount hole is optional for riders over 200 lbs,, [faster coupling that way]

I did move to the 2 other optional mountings for 200 + though, try it like that for now

with the shorty seat, that also changes the way it rides, more forward rider weigh, lets you run softer spring tension in the rear

Thanks again

Any of you suspension wizards have a suggestion for the ifs spring replacement?
