I have a job offer that will allow me to work from my home so now the Misses and I are considering a move West. We can basically go anywhere since I'll be working from home or traveling all over the West coast.
I'd like to be close to an airport, relatively close to good riding, & near a town or city with some creature comforts. I'd rather not pay 500 grand for a 1500 sq ft home either.
The Ft Collins area seems like a decent place but I've not had a lot of luck learning much about it online, is the nearest airport Denver?
Any recommendations?
I will need a view of the mountains from the living room. :div20:

I'm currently living in Fort Collins. College town: Good scenery.
Homes: 1.5 to 3.5k for 1500 sq ft, depending on acerage, garage, etc.
Airports: Denver-Closest international airport. Fort Collins-Loveland Airport-Serves Vegas and some other Domestic airports. Cheyenne- Mostly just connectors.
Riding-Gould-1.5 hours or so away, Rabbit ears/Steamboat 3 hours, Vail pass-2-3 hours. Some riding available in Arapaho-Roosevelt NF close 45 miles from town around Red Feather, but it's condition dependent and can be short on snow.
Let me know if you need more info.

Winter Park or Fraser areas is awsome but I guess I'm a lil biased, might want to look into it, we got a madd resort and the riding is fabulous with a longer season than most get. Our sled season this year started in October, now thats kool. I ride the rockies right from my front door, no trailor needed. Well thats my vote.

Any place along the front range is going to be cheaper living but the drives are usually 1 to 3 hours to get to some of the better riding areas. Idaho springs whould be you best alaroung bet IMO. If you want to spent the extra buck and still be somewhat close to the denver airport (1.5 hour) Winterpark is probaly the best choice as far as riding gos. Corona pass, Jones pass, and Church park are some great riding areas that are just on the outskirts of Winterpark and it would put you a little over an hour from Rabbit Ears pass that has some of the best riding in the state.

For the most part trails are only short runs to get you up to the huge open rolling powdery play areas.

Can I run a F7 out there with standard length 1.375" track and not spend all day digging myself out?

For the most part yes.
I started moving to colorado for the riding season 4 years ago. The first season the local dealer in Grand Lake CO told me i need a long track to get by so i got a 05 summit 144 and it went fine but i didnt like the length. Next season I bought a 800 renegade 136 and was amazed that it went everywhere my 144 went. The next season I droped my powertek 800 into a 440x chassie and was abled to go anywhere my friend with 151 could go, granted I couldnt out highmark them or breacktrail as good. I could still get everywhere just fine as long as i rode aggresive enough.
The most importaint thing to do is clutch right and gear right for the elevation, If you dont your F7 will run like a 340 at 10,000 foot. Ive had friends come out that think they can get away with just rejetting. They end up wasting there whole trip pissed because they have a top speed of 40 mph because there sled wont shift out.

Good feedback on the clutching. I hadn't thought about that.
If I could find one of my friends to go out there with me for a few weeks, that would be ideal. I know a few of them would come out skiing for a few days.
I'm guessing I could find people to ride sleds with.
