I'm selling my wifes sled, 2000 ZL 500 efi.
It has 482 miles on it and is in perfect condition.
It has new 6" carbide woody's ski runners and 72 studs.
Sled looks and runs like new...literally.
There is no rust on the exhaust or undercarriage.
It is truly in perfect condition.
Always ridden up north in New Hampshire, Maine or Canada.
Always trailered in an enclosed trailer and when not being ridden it was kept in a heated garage.
There are no wear marks on the foot runners, no scatches...anywhere, not even underneath on the belly pan. The sled has been babyied, my wife is a very conservative rider.
What do you guys think would be a fair asking price for this machine?
I don't want to give it away but also don't want to scare people away with an unrealistic price.
All comments welcome.
Thank you
-Doug

$3000 since its low miles
Yet You have to factor in its ion the ZR2 body and its 7 seasons old
If it was average condition I would say $2000 but since you describe a almost new sled the above price should make it an easy sell

Freezerburnt,
I appreciate the reply, you would be amazed as to how clean it is, it truly is like new.
I was thinking 3300.00.
I know it's old but that chasis handles so well.
I hate to get rid of it but I sold my 2002 600 cce and 2004 F7 Sno-Pro, both with low miles.
I can't jusify buying a new one and did not like the way the firecat handled.
We have a 21 month old daughter and I don't see me taking any trips for the next couple of years.
It seems like a waste to keep it.
I can't ride it because the supension is too soft, the power is decent, I was really surprised.
So it needs to go to an adolescent kid or another woman, or a guy that rides easy or is very light, 130 lbs or so. Otherwise the suspension will bottom out, if ridden fairly hard, unless upgrades are made.
If I could find another super clean low miles 2002 600cc or 800 cce, I would keep it and hang on to both of them. I have not been lucky find one clean enough with low miles that I would consider buying.
So for now I'm going to puts hers up for sale.
Thanks again

Nice 00 ZL440 2 years ago came to our house for 1550 with around 1200 miles. I would think you should ask around 2000 for it.

I think $2,000.00 would be giving it away.
1550 are low miles but it is still 3 x's the amount on this sled.
Racinfarmer, I appreciate your input, and perhaps you are correct.
If you are right I will keep it as a back up, or wait for my daughter to get older and keep it for her.
It sounds like you got a good deal on that 440.
I don't have to sell it, so I'm in a good position as far as that is concerned.
This sled is an efi unit.
I bought it new as a 2 year left over in 2002.
It was ridden by my wife in 2002 and 2003, that was it.
I stabilized the fuel and fogged the motor.
It is in my garage lift up off the ground, all fittings have been greased, the track has been loosened and belt removed for storage.
I get it running every year, just to do the storage procedure again.
I have run it some of the snow we get locally, that may account for a total of 10 miles, just enough to run it and make sure everything functions properly.
It does take up alot of room though, so, If I can get a resonable number for it I'll let it go.
thank you for the input

Well, if you have a daughter advancing up in a few years, you might as well keep it for her. Good trail sled, even if it is 7 years old. Just don't let her schmuck the hood like my wife did to ours. :banghead: (PS, its 1500+ for a new one)

Keep it for your daughter, you will be hard pressed to get $2500 for it. I sold my wife's 2002 1/2 early release ZR500 CC LE with less than a 1000 miles on it, electric start and reverse, studded track, clicker shocks, and it was like new for $3200 and I got lucky last year. That is way more sled than what you are selling, sorry to say. Keep it and let your daughter enjoy it. Then you won't have to buy someone elses junk. She will already have a great sled that you know everything about.

Perhaps I will keep it, for my daughter, or wife if she inclined to ride anymore.
Otherwise, if anybody is interested at $3,000.00 I would consider letting it go.
If anybody wants pics just pm me. The sled is truly like new.

Last fall I bought an 01 ZL500 EFI/ESR with 400 miles on it for $3000 with a cover and 10 gallons of oil. Sled was in mint shape, track clean etc. $3k might be a bit high, but start with that price, post a pic with it on here and try to sell it, you can always lower your price to sell if needed.
Here is a pic of what $3000 got me:
