Full Version: Which Amsoil to use?
HCS Snowmobile Forums > General Forums > Off-Topic Forums > Boats and Watercraft

Poo boy
I plan on running Amsoil next season in my jet boat. I plan on premixing because I am afraid of the oil pump going out. Any opinions on which Amsoil to use and what ratio to mix at. I have been told that when the motor is running at WOT it is running at 50:1 and when at idle 100:1 with the oil pump. If I premix what should I shoot for?

The motor is a 175 XR2 if that matters.

Thanks

I'm using HP injector with very good results. As a mechanic, I can say that Oil pump failures are not very common. Just run it with the oil pump, and if you are scared because of the motor's age, Replace the pump, they are pretty cheap. But I can tell you that my 98 merc 150 efi is still on it's first oil pump and I have no doubts about it for next year.

I run the saber 100:1 mix in my engine. i run it at 64:1. it is a mercury
2.5L drag engine. 300 plus hp. i spin it to 9000 rpm with no issues.

not sure if you're familiar with the site
but the best boat site i have found
(mostly outboard) is screamandfly.com
