I am going to start working on the one thing I did not like on my FST classic, the steering. My previous sled was an 2000 xc 700 deluxe and it always steered like it was on rails, except for the occasional darting. With my FST, I always found it easy to turn the bars but unless the snow was really hardpacked, it would almost always push in the corners (except at very low speeds). I tried adding longer carbides to the skis, I think I went with 8" but it did not really improve the handling any. I tried increasing preload on the front end with the spring adjusters but again, not a real big improvement. I was thinking about ordering a set of the 2007 skis since they were supposed to fix the handling problem, but I would hate to spend that kind of money and have the problem still remain. I have seen several people mention the SLP skis and was wondering if they fixed the handling problem. Any suggestions from anyone who has found anything to improve the steering would be greatly appreciated.

Is it not the spindles that changed in 07? Or was it just the ski's? Maybe stop in at a dealer or ask ExcrsionPSD as he is a dealer.

Did you shorten the straps a bit? Makes quite a bit of difference.

Spindles for non-RMK IQ chassis are the same for 2006-2007. The skis are different, the mounting hole is located further back, but I do not think it would be feasible to put a different hole in the 06 ski, to get it to work like an 07.

Ok, then what is the fix??? The stock 06 ski's on my Classic will be worn through very shortly with a lot of wear rod left!!?? The pivot or pressure point is wrong on the ski. Many were posting about premature wearing of the skis last season. Was Polaris going to stand behind these----heard rumors???? Ain't spendin' a dime on something that should last the life of a $8K sled!!!!!!!!!!!!
