The Bearing house I have been visiting has Ultimax 3 Belts. 50$ New
Whats the deal with them?? Are they good belts? comparable to OEM or Better Quality?
what about tighter tolerances? replication of width and lenght from belt to belt??
Just looking at some options?

They have warranty too. Mail the broken belt to them with the cardboard it came in and they'll send you a new one.

If you do keep the cardboard. I have found that the best belts for Polaris are Polaris belts. Yes they make the Polaris belt but they can't make the same belt with there name on it. They need to change the side angles or belt compound to sell a belt. If you go thru the trouble to clutch for there belt you most likely would be fine but I have had trouble with their belts being harder that Po belts. Try E-bay or swap meets for Polaris belts. I just bought belts at haydays for around $50.

I would stay with the polaris belts.

..seems everytime i would purchase one of those dayco's they would be noticably shorter even though they make them for polaris and other manufactures... they would need reshimming to make them fit. They also seemed of a softer rubber compound than the oem.

Yes go with the Polaris belt. It is alittle more expensive but better way to go.

Roger,
I've used both on my 800 XCR. In my experience, the Ultimax3 is harder and lasts a bit longer but if you switch back and forth the engine will rev 100-200 rpm higher with the Ultimax. You'll have to add weight to keep same rpm as with a Polaris belt. Ultimax also seems a bit wider. Dimensions are very consistent. You can use both and when on warmer days and revs are down, switch from Polaris to Ultimax. The new Carlisle belts seem similar to Ultimax.

Ive tried Ultimax belts in the past and IMO they dont hold up as well as do Polaris belts.

I also tried using the ultimax belt and it only lasted 500 miles.I was running a 800 xcsp with a pipe and other mods. The poo belts would last 2 seasons with no problems.

Interesting, Polaris belts never last me more than half dozens hard runs, I get at least 20 runs on Ultimax 3's, on my stock 700, the Ultimax has been on 4 years, still looks brand new.

I use Gates Extreme, good hard belt.
I know I only have a 500, but would eat stock softer belts when braking trail in deep snow
