I went to start my sled the other night to just let her run for a while, but pulled it over a few times and she didnt want to go. I checked and it has great spark, and will fire on carb cleaner if I spray it into the cylinder, but wont run. This happened a few months ago, but it was because there was a huge mouse nest in my airbox. I cleaned that out and it ran great. Now it wont go. Any ideas why it cant be getting fuel? I figured a mouse chewed up a wire, but cant see anything. My airbox lid is off along with the ECU box becuase I thought there might be another nest, but its clean. Any ideas guys? Thanks

nope, no fuel. is there any wiring underneath the steering stem that could be chewed? maybe my pump is frozen?

check your muffler to see if they made any nests in there also. The only wires that are under the air box are the ones that go back to to the tail light. The rest go on top. Pull the air box out and you will be able to see all of the wires.

yea I already pulled the pipe/silencer and nothing was in there. Could it be the pump?

Lost it's prime...keep pulling. Don't touch the throttle.

You lost your prime. Pull off the yellow water temp sensor wire. Then pull and pull until the engine stumbles. Then replace the wire. It should start if you lost your prime.
Also pull the fuel line from the tank with a wire and check the fuel pick up for old gas slime or crud. If its dirty you need to dump the old gas and put fresh in.
It could be the fuel regulator as well. Bad gas will stick it shut. Its on the end of the fuel rail. Sometimes a good rap with help it.

It may sound weird, but I was at a dealer once a few years back dropping my ZR6EFI off for service and it wouldn't start, even though I just loaded it on the trailer a few hours before. It was the only time I had an issue with an EFI starting.
He saw me pulling on it and came out, opened the gas cap and blew in the tank, then I pulled a few more times and it started.
I really have no clue as to whether it helped or not, or if it was a coincidence since I already pulled quite a few times. He said it's a little trick to help it pressurize. Maybe if you have a compressor, just shoot some air in for fun!

I was going to mention the blow in tank move as well. The large gas opening makes it tough to blow on so leave the cap on the tank and blow into the vent line. Make sure to plug the line to hold pressure in the tank until it starts then relieve the plug to allow the tank to breath.

I know the "blow in the vent line" trick works fantastic to prime carbs, but I thought the EFI sleds did not have a vent because of the return line from the fuel pump?

If you do blow in the vent line, or in the filler neck, make sure the tank is fairly full. It is much easier the fuller the gas tank is. Is it possible to use a car battery to jump the fuel pump and make it pump without having the sled running?

Yea ZR8 ive done that b4 if you have a crack in ur line u create preasure in the tank forces the fuel in and taking the air outa ur lines/ primin it

sorry guys, havent had time to try it yet. I've been really busy between work, school, and fixing my bike. I am either going to attempt the fix one of these nights, or send it to the local AC shop and just have them look the whole thing over. I guess its a good idea for them to check it completely since I bought it used. Maybe if I can get the money I will have my shocks rebuilt. The fronts sag about 3 inches with weight on them, and the front skid shock was disconnected and didnt have the update done. The other skid shock is set on the 8th clicker setting and I cant spin it no matter how hard I try. Do you think it is a good idea to have the dealer take the rear shocks and rebuild them ($100 per shock) and do the update, then I will take the fronts off myself and send them out. Any thoughts???

That seems expensive for the shock rebuilds, but maybe he is including removing, and installing, the shocks. The clicker shocks are more expensive to rebuild than the standard Fox shocks, but I didn't think they'd be that much more. If they haven't maintained regularly they may need other parts besides seals and wipers. The shocks should be rebuilt every year to provide proper function and ride quality. When you have an open weekend take the skid frame out, remove the shocks and check all the skid bearings and clean and grease the suspension. The front shocks are easy to remove. It is good experience and better to do it know than during the riding season after a failure.

I'm thinking your having a lot of trouble with that 02 CC, I think you should just let me have it, and you can take my 97 ZR, shocks are great, starts on the second pull!!

hopefully my troubles are over for a while...Its going to the dealer tomorrow to get checked out. I dont have the time to mess with it right now with things that come up at work and stuff to fix my bike. I tried to pressurize my fuel system with the compressor and had no luck though. Thanks for all the help guys, I'm learning a lot on this site!
