Demolition
Last week I was in the RM of Alexander looking at the trail system I like to use in the winter. The trails span from Grand Beach east toward the Whiteshell area. I couldn't help but notice that the authorities at Lester Beach (North of Grand Beach) have barricaded the CN trail with boulders. They posted some sign but I didn't get a chance to take a look at it. Considering a logging operation shut the same section of trail last year, I'm guessing we are gonna lose it again.

In the same area, a crushing operation is now in full swing around the pits on Ridge Trail just south of highway 11. They have 3 or 4 Atco trailers parked on that trail section, and heavy equipment is up and down that stretch all day.

Both would be significant losses.

No official word that I have heard. I can talk to one of the guys from the Northstar club that I work with to find out.

Umm, go around the boulders? dunno.gif

It's a bit rough, but worth it every now and then. :div20:

One of the club members said that if the rocks are an issue, they will just resign the trail to use the lake. The construction going on is for the paving of the shoulders on #11, and should be complete before winter. Can't comment on the logging operations.

Hmm, this coming from the guy who didn't have the ability to negotiate the turns on the HSC ride last year...perhaps you should refrain from the "boulder circumventing" this season and stay on the wider trails, such as the floodway!

As for Demolition, he had difficulties manuevering that slug on the trails most of the winter! Lasting image from the Ducks is Demolition dry heaving over the hood of his sled as he "successfully" extracted the GSX from four feet of powder!!!! Ah, good times.

I was just up there last week quading, we saw the cam things but I would expect the club would simply use one of the other trails to go around the logging there is a turn off just before the barricade. As for the gravel pit off 11 I can’t see it being a problem just riding past, ithe crushing is all off the main trail anyway. The great thing about that area is that there are tons of trails all going the same way.
