I'll always keep the Canon A-610 for trips on the sled, but I finally "pulled the trigger" and picked up my new Nikon D50 today. I spent alot of time researching DSLR's and felt the Nikon was my best choice. My 35MM is a Nikon and I already have the AF lenses so it was kind of a no brainer.
Who else has a digital SLR and how do you like them?

I got a Canon Digital Rebel-XT in december and really like it. I got a 28-135 IS lense for it which is a huge upgrade over the one that came with it.

We got the Digital Rebel when it first came out, great camera. We are going to be looking for a Professional digital camera for my wife next weekend (the 14th) and the Digital Rebel impressed us enough that we are thinking about stepping up to something that we can use in a studio setting and sticking with Cannon, the 1d or 5D are possible options, I guess we will see if it is worth it to go with one of those or if we have to step up to something bigger.

I have the cannon 20d, 17-85 lens, 100mm macro and the 100-400 lenses. Great camera. I like using the manual settings. Maybe a 5D in a few years if they still have them.

D50 is a great starter SLR camera....

i've got one and i like the feel and the interface much better than that of Canon (i find the D Rebel feels plasticy and kind of junky, with real small buttons), but thats just me.... my next upgrade will be to the D200

I started out with Nikon's AP 2000 in '98 but now use a D100, D1, and D1x. I tend to stay with Nikon since I have the investment in the AF lens, but I still like to shoot my AE-1 for black and white.

I think you will be quite happy with the Nikons; I have never had any problems.

Nikon D70, love it. I had to choose between Canon and Nikon and what sold me was the feel of the camera. They are both great cameras but the Nikon felt better in my hand. Lenses: 18-80, 35-200 and 70-300.
I had a 35mm Minolta X700 (non-auto focus). I wanted to jump to Digital DSLR so I was looking at replacing all of my lenses.

Just got a Pentax K100D 2 weeks ago. Came with an 18-55 zoom lense and a 50-200 lense. Have had a Pentax ME Super 35 millimeter since the earth's crust had cooled. Boy you read the owners manual and it sure can be intimidating.

The ME Super was my wife's first camera, and other than two Medium format cameras we still have every camera we ever bought... we now have our fourth digital camera, we were going to get a 1D or 5D, but instead my wife picked up a book on profitable photography and it convinced us to get the most economical camera that will do the job we need done, we ended up with the new 10 MP Rebel XTi, 16x20 prints might be stretching it, but my wife has never sold a print that large. The XTi in a studio setting is actually vey nice with the 60mm fixed lense we have on it.

Rebel XT with a 28-135 IS lens. 3000 exposures so far, in about half a year. And that wasn't really getting out much either.

I'm on my second DSLR.. started with the D70 and right when they came out I upgraded to the D200. I sold all my lenses and bought the 17-55/2.8 and LOVE IT! I also bought the battery grip. I have used the camera on everything, from taking vacation scenic shots to studio pics. I have been thrilled with the performance of the camera so far. Now I'm saving for the 70-200/2.8

Boy I tell you the quality of the pictures is mind blowing!

Well finally got some time on my Pentax K100. Maybe it is not as intimidating as I thought that it would be. With Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 I can crop and fix up underexposed pictures. Here are a few samples: I wanted to upload MX pictures but I could not get into my file.

Get a sony dslra100k they are basically a minolta and all your lenses will work. Mine will be here in a week or so.

I'm a little late to the party but I have a Canon 400d (rebel XTi) with the 18-55 kit lens, Canon 28-135 IS, Canon 300 prime and could not be happier with it... well I guess I could be happier if I knew how to use it grinning-smiley-023.gif

Might want to look at getting a little longer lens, for distant sled shots that 55mm might not be enough.

D-50 and Fuji S5200 for work. The Nikon is cool but for what I do its a bit much. Its heavy, has no LCD visual during shooting and the minimum quality setting is still pretty big for sending thru the mail. And you dont dare leave it anywhere or its going to surely dissapear.

Unless your doing this for a living or practicing as a hobby, Id say opt for somethign like the Fuji. I really like this camera. Its light, the basic settings are easy to find and adjust and it takes great pictures. 5.1 mp ,10X optical zoom and it was cheap. Shot close to 5000 pictures so far. The only snag is with the XD chip. It would have been convienient to have SD. You cant swap out the lenses but for 90% of what I shoot its perfect.

not sure if it's the same but grab'd a REBEL XTi last winter to take better shots of the sleds when we're all out on the ice. Researching lenses to upgrade the picture quality for the guys on the site this winter. Considering we'll be filming sleds in the 200mph range, it was time to get serious.

very easy to upload to the PC - love the XTi , warning photography can be addicting

You guys are going to LOVE your DSLR's. I've got a D70 and a D200 with 5 pieces of good glass. The speed and lens selection is what makes these cameras so sweet. I'm a semi-pro photographer and ever since a back injury, I've been out of motocross. I'm now concentrating on photo and when the snow flies, snowmobiling. My website has info on my gear and also info about my Apex GT. Check it out. Tell me what you think.

I have an old XT, an XTI I got when they first came out and about 4 months ago bought a 40D. For glass I have the following zooms: 10-22efs, 17-55 2.8IS, 70-200 2.8L IS and a 100-400 F4-5.6L IS. For Primes I have a 50 1.4 and a 60 macro. Lighting is a 430EX and a 580EXII. Bunch of Bogen supports and countless Lowepro, Thinktank and Tenba bags. And I'm never happy with my pics.
