Full Version: Extrovert Drivers for IQ chassis

The Edge and previous chassis had a driveshaft that had the conventional involute black plastic drive wheels mounted on a hex shaft.

The 2005 and up sleds which have the IQ front end use a drive shaft with a very large diameter ribbed drum on the drive shaft for the plastic drive wheels to mount on.

I am looking for Extrovert drive wheels that will mount on this new IQ style driveshaft. As the horsepower goes up, I do not want to have to run the track tighter to prevent racheting. With the teeth from the Extrovert wheels going thru the windows in the track, power transfer is very positive and efficient

The 2006 440 IQ race chassis has Extrovert drive wheels, but it also has a conventional hex driveshaft setup and a conventional speedometer drive.

If anyone knows a way to get extrovert wheels for this IQ chassis, I would like to hear about it. Maybe I've been looking in the wrong places.

I've seen an add for them in one of the snorags I have at work. Can't remember who makes though. If no one tells you by then, I will. :beerchug: Later, Sxrlar

am thinking of doing the same on my Iq chassis, sure would like to hear from somebody that has done this.....Have heard wahl bros make some, not sure if they have ones to fit IQ chassis...is it true that a person has to trim the slide rails to make them work??(dont like that idea)....would presume that it would have to have an open window track to make them work... :div20:

Yes, I will need a fully clipped track to use the extrovert drivers. I may have to trim the tips of the slide rails, mine has a 136" M-10. I should probably remove the coilover shocks so I can exercise the suspension in the shop and see just how close the tips will get to the drivers.

I just looked at Wahlracing.com They only have extroverts for hex shafts.

Spoke to Wahl Racing today (October 9, 2006)

They are NOT working on Extrovert drivers for the drum type drive shaft that non-racing IQ sleds have.

The reason is simple and logical: Producing a new mold to produce these drum type drivers which are only used on IQ non-racers, would be very expensive.

avid-products.com has them 2.52 or 3 pitch 117 dollars a piece. :div20:

A little off topic, but, I am going to be doing a 136 extension to my 2000 gen II that has a pro-x skid in it and was thinking off going to extrovert drivers.

I have a 136" fully clipped rip saw coming in for this project.

Anything to look out for or to know before jumping in feet first?

How hard are they to install?

Any thoughts on these from SLP?

SLP no slip wheels

I'm installing these onto a MY07 FST IQ Cruiser:
Polaris drum-type extrovert from Avid-Products

Does anybody out there that has used these on an IQ chassis sled, remember whether they had to unbolt the chaincase, to get enough clearance to install the drive axle. It appears that it will be close. I intend to install the drivers as close together as possible, probably about 8.5" on center.

speedoo end and it might come out without the chain case coming off but you will have to take the bolt off for the bottom gear.

bigtoyz,

Thanks for the reply, that is good news.

On the Four-Stroke Chaincase, the lower sprocket is splined to a hub carrier in the chaincase. The drive axle slides out without even touching the chaincase side.

no problem been there since the cover got warped and I changed gears and did not know about the problem and took them out so I replaced everything and bearings. Surprised they didn't make it so chain case can come out without taking the shaft out.
