I have a 2001 XC 800 SP non VES with a SLP single pipe and can, V force reeds, SlP gutted air box and Goodwin Performance clutch kit. I want more HP.
Actually Ive been looking around for a 990cc bore but $3500 is too much, i only want to spend about 2000 at most. Any suggestion on how I can get my sled up to aroudn 170+ HP for 2000 or under? Without NOS!

I have a nearly new set of twin pipes from PSI for $400. They claim 21 hp gain.
Have Flannery do some porting and you should be there.
I'm only 25 miles from you.

Before I start the work on anything, i need to sell my pro X. Taking the money from that sled and putting into this sled and a 4 wheeler. If you still have the pipes in a couple months ill probably buy them. Thanks phil.

170 Hp with polaris twin is not possible with pump gas. 155 ~ 160 hp with porting and twins is very possible on pump fuel. I have heard a lot of good feed back on Flanery and union bay ...... If it was me I would get the port work done with a fresh topend and see what you think. My 2001 xc 800 rans good but its only like 128 hp but the TQ is good for a stock motor , clutching makes a HUGE differance with the 2001 800 ! load the motor down to about 7600 ~ 7700 rpm with a gearing change it will go good.

Have a 2001 800, almond red primary, blue orange secondary, mtx weights from slp with 3grms on tip and 2grms in center, slp single pipe with high flo mods on airbox.Run it at 8000 rpms all the time. Have the stock roller sec. with a hsp heilx. My friend has a 2004 800 and I can run all over him. I think with a lilltle cluchting it should run pretty strong for you. Also how can a guy get in touch with Flannery, do they have a web site and where are they located.

Doug's phone is 269-792-0070. Wayland, MI. Western lower Michigan. He is DFlan on HCS.
BTW, this engine with lower compression and a stock single pipe would easily hit 190 + hp TURBOCHARGED at 6 psi boost on pump premium. 220+ hp at 12 psi on race gas also. And, you could trail ride it on 87 octane if you stayed out of the throttle or lowered boost even more.

I know an 800 has a few more ponies than a 700, but my99 700 non ves stock I believe is around 118 hp. Now it has slp twin pipes, vforce3, gutted air box, tempaflow and heelclicker clutching. It is around 138-140 hp now. Only about 75 track HP. With porting I could get a little more, but this set up has been running for 7000 miles trouble free and I can keep up and pass some 800's and keep up with the new 140 hp Stock F7's. I can also burn bar fuel if needed. My upgrades were about $1300.00 installed.
Good luck, but always remember, the more you stretch, the less reliability!!

Interesting topic, a turbo. Ed had one that ran like a mother. (Anderson) How hard would it be to put one on a smaller twin, say a 6 or 7 and run it on like 4-5 lbs of boost? say for trail running? Wouldn't it almost be better to run the new semidirect or perhaps run a turbo on a twin 2 stroke fuelie?

Like this Cat ZR 800 EFI? Very quick response due to exhaust valves, low 7500 rpm and EFI. I do know a Turbo Ed (Anderson?) from Mesick. My own XC700 turbo at 7 psi on pump premium spanked him at Lost Pines. Several witnesses. He, He, he. Nice guy though.

Yep same ED. I spend LOTS of time ther in the season. Pumping gas, fixing rentals, serving beer etc. I am thinking turbo twin is the way to go. I might have something next season...if not before. Who needs snow.
