dunno.gif Tried to fish with a mepps #2 {stamped on a golden colored spoon} this morning and found no luck. Have never used thses lures before and looking for advise--- what type of water body do they work best in? colors that work the best? :div20: thanks

ive used them in open water (shallows) and in creeks and rivers. For this early, you are going to want a really slow retrieve. just cast and retrieve...thats it! grinning-smiley-023.gif

As for colors...depends on the day, how clear the water is, all that. I have always liked the classic aglia with the brownish skirt, though. Caught tons of smallies on it!

The #1 question I have is what are you fishing for?

We are still ice fishing up here =P

Whenever I use a Mepps, usually cast with a slow retrieve, twitch a bit. They work on a lot of species. Caught Small Mouth Bass, Walleye, Pike, crappies.

i usally use them for stream bass and trout casting up stream across the current and slow retrieve back to me letting it slip into eddies from rocks wading i cast up stream and retrieve as fast as needed to keep up with the current and ditto with the rocks creating eddies colors usally depend on the bait fish in the streams and sun or over cast

Well idk where u r fishing but if u fish rivers at all mepps r almost a gaurantee
as long as u use the right size mepps for the job just throw them in a deep pocket and watch em work. for rivers i use mepps with a bright shinny blade
