i have a 1988 chevy half ton and on the door where it latches the little peice that holds the door shut busted through the cab and i was wondering if anyone has any idea on how i would be able to fix it for cheap please let me know. im going to take a pic of it so you can see what im talking about. it happend befor and a friend tryed to fix it. it worked for a littel while but it done it again today.

That is your striker plate. Looks like your are hurting

just weld a piece of metal over that spot and drill a new hole. Been there, done that

no, I read all forums in the morning. I just figured rusted door jambs are the same in alaska as they are in vermont. :doh:

probably have worn hinge pins and bushings also putting extra stress on the striker plate when closeing the door.
