snopro909
I have a powermadd throttle cable extension so thats covered, but I want to know how much slack is in the brake hose. It is a sled that I will be racing in a couple of weeks but I don't have access to it right now. I will be installing the bars & riser at the track so any info to save me trouble would be appreciated. I will be using a 6.44" extension off a snopro & i'm 99% sure it'll bolt up...but that 1%...thanks
btw it's a 2000 style chassis

So your gonna race a ZRT :smilielol:

I have a 2" riser on mine

Power Mad makes a riser that curs so that the bards are straight up
snopro909
whats funny about racing a zrt? man thats true the bars are going to be angled back pretty severely aren't they
slickster
I have this setup on my 95' ZRT. only issue I had was the one piece throttle block on curved bars. Had to cut hook then install throttle and tack hook back on. No updated pictures but here is exact setup. These Cat bars are great and only $40. used 4" rizer, cause the pivot is 2". Brake line metal tubing can be straightened to reach. I went to a motorcycle shop and got braided line. Hope that helps.

Ebay is your friend. I picked up a complete set of bars and controls for about $60 US plus shipping. Came with the throttle block, grips, warmers and brake side controls. All I had to move over was my brake master cylinder and lever and then I had to buy the Powermadd pivot adaptor and an Arctic Cat 6.44" riser. Had it installed in about a half hour. No extensions required on my 98. I also didn't have to bend the brake line at all. If the steering post on the 2000 uses 1/4" bolts you will need to drill out the holes for the pivot adaptor with an 11/32" drill bit.

dunno.gif ZERTMAN! want to put 2" riser and the hooked bars on my 99 zrt. what parts do i need and where do i get them.........thanks........HAWK!!!!
DrWho17
Me too, looks sweet.
snopro909
cool, thanks alot for the info guys. I need a throttle cable ext. due to megatron carbs-the cables are very short, & the brake line I'm just gonna make as well at the pivot adapter..I wasn't realizing that the zrt has a flat plate unlike a t-tube lfcat setup.
snopro909
does anyone know the outside width of the stock bar clamp assy? thanx
Ride 207
heres my cousins, I think he only has a 4.5" riser tho

EDIT: Forgot the pic :frech32:

That looks like a Powermadd pivot risor.

In order to make the cat hooked bars work on a ZRT you need

-Pivot adaptor (Powermadd or Fly Racing)
-Hooked bars
-2 piece throttle block because the throttle block on your 99 won't slide over the hook. Or you have to cut the bars, put your throttle block on and then weld the bars back together.
- riser

Thats a pic of my cousins bars, not mine, I just have a 2" riser using the normal bars, So i dont know what he had to do to make it work, All i know is that is a 4.5" riser and i think it is way to low with the straight bars (Im 6')

Try and get it with the bars. Thats what I did. I bought the complete bars and controls from an 02 ZR. You can buy one from Cat but it is about $100 just for the throttle block. There might be an aftermarket throttle block but I'm not sure who makes one.
DrWho17
I've gotten the two-piece throttle block from psiperformance, black magic and I believe hiperf.com carries them as well.
Hawk
:div20: DRWHO! THANKS ALOT, WILL TRY THOSE(BLACK MAGIC,PSI,HIPERFORMANCE) I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HOOKED BARS WILLFIT MY STEERING COLUMN AND IF I NEED THE BRAKE,THROTTLE CONTROLS ETC. WILL 02 ZR BARS WORK.THANKS.......HAWK!!!

Any of the hooked bars should work with the powermadd pivot riser. I looked through www.alpha-sports.com 's parts, not bad prices on the bars, you can grab the ac part numbers there.
There is a set on ebay now, with a broken killswitch. Lots of bidders on it though, probably from this thread.
derrek
i used a powermadd and firecat bar and controls and a factory riser on a 99 zr works great and i didnt need to extend the throttle cable .

Here is what you need from your dealer. Parts are from a 2002 ZR 600. Parts list is from Browns. Prices from Alpha Sports.

0609-520 CONTROL,TH-SPLIT 3W W/ HI/LO $79.15 USD
0609-525 CONTROL,DIM-HYD W/ HI/LO $82.97 USD

0705-417 HANDLEBAR,W/HOOKS-PTD BLK $31.52 USD
0705-433 WRAP, HANDLEBAR PAD-ASSY-02 ZR $27.44 USD
2606-400 GRIP, HANDLEBAR-LH-8.00" $7.35 USD
1606-442 GRIP,HANDLEBAR-RH-6.25" $7.35 USD
0609-554 ELEMENT,HW-RH HI/LO W/CAP $39.82 USD

0609-036 WASHER,FLAT $.75 USD
0623-262 CLIP, WIRE-TW 1/4" $.60 USD

total for bars and controls about $368 USD. You also need the below.

One of these risers. Your choice on the size.
0605-513 4.44 inch AC aluminum riser $32.97
0605-491 5.44 inch AC aluminum riser $34.98
0605-512 6.44 inch AC aluminum riser $37.98

None of the above will work without a pivot adaptor

Powermadd Pivot Adaptor
http://www.powermadd.com/products/pivotadapterkit.html
or
Fly Racing Pivot Adaptor
http://www.carlscycle.com/partpage.asp?par...26category%3D57

If you don't want to buy a pivot adaptor you will need to swap out your entire steering post for this steering post from the 2002 ZR 600.

0705-842 POST,STEERING-PTD BLK $46.53

You might need other parts to do a steering post conversion.

It is much cheaper to find the bars and controls used from EBAY or a wrecker and then buy a pivot adaptor and riser.

hhmm, I was just checking out the fly pivot adapter..If you clamped a peice of 7/8" tube (like say a peice of an old bar assy) in the stock clamps, you would be doing pretty much the same thing wouldn't you..you might have to modify the riser a bit, but a guy could even cut one in two & use it like the fly risers (2 peice). thats what I'm gonna do I think, since I already have a spare a/c riser & like 3 sets of snopro bars, I don't mind sacraficing 'em. I'll post how it turns out..I'll be doing it tues night.
check out my super nice drawing to see what I mean, just cut the riser on the dotted line or cut it right in 2

edit: ok stand by for pic...anyone know why I can't post a pic from paint? it's a bmp file

hawk did you see my post above?? you could save yourself alot of money possibly..the powermadd pivot adapter's like 60 bucks
Hawk
:div20: SNOPRO909! YES I DID. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!! HAWK!!!!
snopro909
Ok it's done, used the snopro 6.44" riser & cut it in two (used it like a fly riser). clamped a peice of 7/8" steel tube 5.5" long in stock clamps & clamped the risers to it. used stock bars on top of that to add to the rise. looks & works great. can't say for sure if a zrt brake line is long enough cause we used a firecat one. also had to extend the throttle cable with a powermadd extension.
KevinS
Have any pics?
zrtnut
has anyone had to adjust the throttle cabes and oil pump cable on their zrt's to get enough slack in the cable to use the powermadd throttle extension. The factory cable doesn't have enough slack to be able to hook up the throttle extension.
zrtnut
I'm trying to install my powermadd throttle extension onto my 98 zrt 600. The factory cable has NO slack in it at all (at the throlle end of cable). Am I alone on this one? I think what i have to do is play with the slack adjusters at the carbs and oil pump. By doing that, I'll have enough slack to install the throttle extension. Make sense?

I'll try to get some this weekend, it's a nice setup. as for the throttle cable..not sure, we have megatron carbs & cables, so it was no problem for the extension.
