I am looking at the 07 switchback, and have a question for anyone who has this information. My riding will be 70% trail, 30% off trail. What is the difference between the 600HO switchback and the 600HO RMK 144. Would it be possible to make the RMK the same as the switchback. The RMK has better graphics the fixed post felt better when it was at my dealer, and the sled is lighter and better looking with the seat and tunnel. I know it has the adjustable front suspension, but will that really affect trail performance if it is set at 41''. The rear track is a 2", I would convert to a 1.25". Is the rear suspension any different, I know they both have the tipped up rails. Will the 2 vs 4 idler wheels on the rear cause any problems in the twistys and or could it be converted to 4 idler wheels easily. The rest of the suspension looks the same in pictures. Are the shocks set up a lot different, I know the switch has fox and the RMK has Ryde shocks. Any help here, remember the RMK costs $100 less retail so a few of these things could be changed before you get to the same price. Thanks

I would go with the rmk and put a shorter lug track on it. just my 02. But if it was mine I would keep it the way it is and ride the deep stuff. Wow1.gif

are you sure they both have tipped up rails? I don't think they do,but I could be wrong.

Yes they both have tip-up rails I would go with the switchback it will handle better the rmk will ride like a lumberwagon compared to the switchback. The rider select is awsome you dont get that on the rmk.

The front suspension on the RMK is different. Shorter arms, different valving, no sway bar, etc. The Switchback has the same front suspension as an IQ. Also, the new cooling system on the RMK is designed for primarily off-trail use (different cooling extrusions, no radiator), and you will run the risk of overheating if run on trail for extended periods of time.

not trying to steal your post but... I am getting a 07 600cfi but can't decide between the IQ or the SB. most, 90% of my riding is trail right now. I am lean toward the SB but am not sure it wil handle well enough in the trails and the little bit of ditch banging and jumping I do. I know it wil take the bumps better. Does the 07 have the wide running boards or the same as the 06.

Z71 in your case I would suggest the SB

I'm on a 06 SB 900, the sled tames the trials 10 times better than my 05 Fusion, and it is faster and better mileage too!! ( and it's not in the shop for weeks on end)

The only time I realize this thing is a long tracker is when I am walking up to it. And the first time I tried to get it in my normal parking spot in the garage and had 3 feet of sled hanging out the door yet!!

The trailability of this sled is completely awesome!! I am still a little thrown by the uncoupled suspension though, and trying to work out a little inside ski lift.

The switchback is pretty much a toned down version of a mountain sled, which in my case is what I really what I need to me it is the best crossover sled in the bussiness I think you need the IQ with a 136 on it would be your best option for a polaris. If you like to go out west and boondock and trail ride the switchback is the best choice hands down. I have rode everything in the crossover segment from all the manufactures and even though I crashed my 06 switchback I will be getting another one although the crossfire is a close second for me but it just does not have as good of a front suspension and I love having the 144 track for superior float.

Polaris are retarded for not offering....

A. A Coupled skid switchback!!!!

B. A 136 option IQ.

I'm going to swap my switchback uncoupled skid for a Edge skid and use Tracks USA 144 tipped extensions.....But I shouldn't have too!!!!

There is a Polaris kit for the 121" IQ/Fusion sled to put in a 136" rail and tunnel extension. This is a very economical way to get a big bore crossover sled with coulpled suspension. You can buy whatever 136" track you want.

I think aftermarket 144" tunnel extensions will be available by this fall if you want to go to 144" with rail extensions.

The '07 RAW chassis RMK only has a digital gauge, the Switchback still has a analog and digital combination MFD.
