I am running my old ZRT 1004 with the stock carbs and gears. I want to pick up some top end, and was wondering about who bores carbs, and what gears to run?
Thanks

I got a set of bored carbs i'm thinking about selling if interested, their flat slides bored from 38mm to 42.5 used very little because of the mileage i was getting trail riding, if you run bored carbs their great for racing but suck for trail riding, its a night and day difference in the mid range and top end with the bored carbs :div20:

I run 39.2mm oval bored carbs, they work fine for trail or race, very responsive.

Me too. I mostly trail ride. Heads also are cut to min spec on squish.
We used to call this a "tuneup" head cut. These two mods are very
trailable.

I'm a tool & die maker by trade and do all machine and cnc work.oval boring machines only the upper half of carb,no loss on bottom end.more flo wide open.

I don't recall, the amount milled except that it was enough to set the squish to minimum spec per Arctic Cat's spec sheet.

The squish was set to .070" clearance.
