Saturday I destroyed another T-cat engine, second in 2 months, both due to failed lower rod bearing on remanufactured cranks. I talked to a Yammie dealer later that night and he offered to bring me a Yammie on Sunday. He brought up an Attak, an Apex RTX, a Nitro, and a Venture.
Off I went on the Attak, and I must say I am amazed. I do believe that this act of kindness from the enemy (blue when I am green) and the incredible ride of the ATTAK has me sold. I am going BLUE. This same ATTAK was involved in some friendly racing (well over 1000 feet) with some F7's, Rev8. new MachZ and Gade. It won some lost some but even its losses were very close. I was not expecting this, and although I had already decided before the racing that this was the sled for me, it was cemented with its performance against these other sleds. If anyone has the opportunity to try one of these, take it. You will be amazed. Hope this particular dealer does not see this post, cos he will be raising the price!!!

I had nearly the same experience tihs past winter. After 34 years of riding Doo and thinking they were the best, I got to spend about 120 miles on a demo Attak provided by a generous dealer in REAL trail and off-trail conditions. Getting off of my Renegade and getting onto the Attak was like parking my Ford Taurus and hopping into a BMW 7 series. I ordered my 07 Attak 2 weeks ago.
I'm firmly convinced that 95% of the people who say they don't like Yamahas, 4 strokes, heavy sleds, whatever.....have simply not had the opportunity to ride an 06 Yamaha yet. 2 years ago, if someone told me I'd own a 4 stroke, I'd have laughed so hard in their face I'd crap my pants. But this old fart has learned that brand loyalty and being closed-minded sucks because I missed a year of riding a far better sled. I will be taking occasional test rides from the competition and opening my eyes much farther from now on, as Yami has obviously raised the bar and the others are going to be forced to play catchup for quite some time now. This will only benefit ALL of the brands.

ATTAK is the best sled is Yami's lineup IMO. If Yamaha keeps improving the suspension and drops weight on their 4 strokes almost everyone will be thinking blue.
IMO they still need a Apex Mountain with a 144" or 151" though.
Next year I look for them to up the 3 cylinder engine to 125-130 HP. Maybe even put it in the Deltabox II chassis.
I'm getting ahead of myself again....LOL :drunk:

You know I was/am still looking at the ATTAK. I want it but I am running into some glitches. Like why is Yamaha Canada pricing so far out of line with the US? I was also checking out a bike I saw at a shop, the R1 LE, MSRP 26,000 CDN. Since I bike, I had to find out why this bike was so special, 26,000 specials to be exact. I did a search on the web and came up with the bike at 18,000. SWTF!!! American site. Checked the Cdn site, sure enuf 26,000. 26000/18000=1.44. Oh I did not realize our dollar had dwindled to this rate.........what do you mean, it hasn't..................so why the difference? 2006 Attak US msrp 10399 Cdn msrp 14199...14199/10399=1.365

That's what I like to hear. :div20: I've had all Cats in the past few years, but I bought a Vector in late '04 and by this fall, will have 3 Yamahas.
