I have an RXL 1992 just wandering if the newer XLT chaincase will bolt up.
The RXL does not have the dipstick. The XLT does. I think the year is around 94 or 95. Any suggestions would be great.

Should be able to make it work but you would need the braking system of the XLT,It would be a big inprovement :beerchug:

Thanks STORMWARNING, i have bought a used chaincase from a 95 xlt,he also gave me his brake caliper. I don't think my brake cooler will fit. Might just put a pipe in there instead. His gear ratio is too low 21-39. Mine is 20-35. Have bought seals and bearings, soon buying new gears and chain.Planning on putting on the wider one, going from 11 wide to the 13 link wide chain for more strength. I'm not sure if i can do that but the XLT's chain was 13 wide.Any additional pointers would be great;as i'm just learning to fix this old thing up as i go. :div20:

Just got through with the chain case switch. Bolted up fine.Put pussy gears in it though, donated by a good buddy. Put new axle bearings, jackshaft bearings, breaks, caliper, new chain, with some clutchin, she'll fly for an old tripple. Good thing the new cats like the old north stars we need all the help we can get !

One things for sure they will be allot easier to change won"t have to take off the chaincase. What a differance! I hope you can point me in the right direction as well with some advice on a helix up grade.
My sled was working o.k last year except for the occasional hesation off the line . This could be from the dirty clutchs and the helix being marked up. Did have 20-35 gears .Now, theres the same single pipe and 23-40 gears also, Theres a blue spring in the primary with 10 al weights and a maroon spring in the secondary. The clutch comes in at 4000 R P M and runs up to 8000 R P M . Any thoughts on putting a 40-36 helix in would be appreciated, since the stock 36 degree has deep scratches in it now. THANKX.
