All brands of shocks have good and bad things about them.
Fox, had crappy caps that let water and air in,meaning rebuilding quite often. They fixed that with a new cap.Shocks are relatively cheap. Can be rebuilt cheaply and with your eyes closed. There are so many out there.
Ohlins work the same as fox only need to be rebuilt every 3000 miles, but 4 of them cost more then my sled is worth.
Ryde fx, work as good as the other two, almost, I have a few issues
They show premature wear on the aluminum bodies down where the bolt goes through on the poo ft rail shock. Also the cap is a little tough to get out on the ski shock. And I don't think their clickers are worth a shit when compared to fox or ohlins. But there shock dampens as well as the others. Just not as tough.
I bet I could build all 3 of these shocks to preform just the same. Its just oil, going through holes, pushing against steel valves, or shims.
I'm talking for the average agressive trail rider, I'm sure theres bigger issues I don't know about that the pro snowcrossers have found to work and not. They for sure will buy a shock that is 1% better then another because they have to and can afford it. Races are one by inches.
Walker evans , never used them
Fox floats, kinda like the idea, got to see how they pan out after some time in the field.
If I needed a shock, or was building a custom shock, it would be a FOX.
Parts readilly available, cheap, and dampen as good as a shock 4 times the price.
