This piece was broken in my VES valve. I dont believe it is anything important because it doesnt do anything but hold the spring on there. It is the little metal piece that goes inside the spring and the one end sticks into the hole on the cover. I looked for the part # on the microfiches and couldnt find anything. I brought it into the dealer and he was clueless.....what a suprise :cn: . So does anyone have any ideas what part # this is.

Sled is an 01 600 XCSp, thanks.

oops forgot the picture....that might help a little bit :banghead:

looks like one of those poppit deals like fett bros. sells. Tells you if your valves are opening all the way or not.
DOTOBIRD

WOW- I just did a complete rebuild of new VES valves and components on my 03 800XC and for sure THAT part sure is NOT in any of my valves!! Pretty bad when you say your dealer hasn't a clue to what it is either.Let us know when you find out for sure, but as others say-You must need that part to have it function.

I'm with redxcr440. It looks like an aftermarket thing I saw around when the VES valves were just coming out. You've likely got a rather large hole in your cap for the thing to stick up through? If I'm right, and it were mine, I'd get a new set of caps and pitch those parts. Just extra crap going up and down with the valves.

Wow1.gif I've had a batch of 600 sleds over the years and have seen the exhaust valve internals enough times to not recall any of those parts being there  dunno.gif Flush.gif .
Flyguy
Thats wierd my 600xc doesn't have that. dunno.gif
WIPolaris
ok well that may explain why the dealer had never seen one either.

Well now this puts me in a situation of what to do? My other one had one also but it wasnt broken.
joerocket
Well, if I were you I would read the third message in this thread, do a search on Fett brothers for a website and go from there. It is probably an aftermarket item. Did you buy this sled used?
dynoman
It's a pop up from Fett Bros. , I tried them on my 600xc years back but didn't like the way the spring bound up inside it & I didn't want to change the spring rate for my exhaust valves so I left them out . The hole that it pops up through will not effect anything if you leave it open . Toss them , Dynoman
WIPolaris
ok that looks like them. So i should just totally remove them from my valves? I did buy the sled used and i was never told of this part so i thought it was stock,
dynoman
Like I said you don't need them , just keep your valves clean & run good oil and you'll be fine . :div20:
