Weather conditions vary across the Finland. In northern parts of country (above artic circle) riding season is usually from december to april. Best trails are also found from northern parts of Finland (imo).

Snowmobiling is only permitted in official trails and lakes, sea, rivers etc. Of course with permit from landowner sledding is allowed in those areas also.

Link with few photos of typical trails from northern Finland.

How many KM's of official trails are there in Finland. Can a snowmobile travel from lodge to lodge?
teamfrosty
Yes, you can ride from ldge to lodge, but the trails are in really bad shape in southern Finland.

Yet more welcome to Sweden! =)
Almost no restrictions: Chasing animals is prohibited, 16 yrs and license for sleds, insured sled, 0.2 thousands of alcohol/blood, , 70 km/h max. and no riding where the trees doesn't rise more than 2m above the snow surface (where it's possibly a plantation). All I can think of atm.
