You can use a drill bit thats bigger than the float pin and carefully drill the float and the oblong hole. Then use the bit itself as the new pin, cutting the twist part off the drill. I did this and worked great on one and no as good on the other. If i was to do it again i would take the carbs to a good machine shop and have them make a sleave to go in the holes. Float height is CRITICAL! Or go to TMX's. Food for thought. All the best, Sideways :beerchug:

HELLO,I HAD THIS PROBLEM JUST THIS YEAR.I RIDE A 98 XC 700
AND I TOOK THE CARBS OVER TO THE VISE.
GET SOMEONE TO HELP HOLD THE CARBS,AS YOU TAKE A FLAT
PUNCH TO THE TOWERS AND HIT JUST TILL THE PINS HAVE A SLIGHT DRAG,THIS WORKS GREAT.
MY BUDDY ALSO DID THIS ON HIS 99.
