Here’s the deal. I blew my motor up earlier this season and brought it to Hollis to get rebuilt. When I went to pick it up they couldn’t give me an exact diagnosis of what happened. They said it could be a number of things, but they weren’t sure. They tried to say that I lost the motor because of my SLP pipe and air intake on the sled, but I’ve had those on there for 2 years now with no problems. They said that they would back up their work and parts, but they weren’t really specific on their warranty there were many fuzzy spots. It’s been a little over a month senses I’ve gotten it back, and I had it up north last weekend, while on the trails I lost the motor again. I called Hollis today and their not really to positive on being able to repair it due to the fact that I have a SLP pipe and air intake on it. The first motor I could see, but having the second one go so close to just having it rebuilt made me stop and think. Even if the motor blew for a second time due to them rebuilding it, they might not cover it. Are they in the right or wrong?

Sounds like BS to me. Unless your air intake sucked in water and caused the burn down i dont know any aftermarket intakes that void workmanship on sleds. As for the SLP pipe thats BS to be the result of a blowup... come on... thats just desperation on there part. If it was such a big deal to them they would have told you to put all stock components back on and run it so they can't void there work but they didnt suggest that i take it. It sounds to me they rebuilt your first motor and didnt know exactly what happen like you mention. They rebuilt it and gave you the best diagnosis to there knowledge and sent you on your way with there fingers crossed. I notice alot of dealers like to put the blame on aftermarket products instead of putting the blame on workmanship and mis-diagnosing problems. It sounds like you might have talked to them already about the 2nd blowup if not i would suggest putting the stock parts back on and tell them you put them on as soon as the sled came home to cover your own a$$ so they couldnt blame the ftermarket products. Don't give up you have to much money tied up in the rebuild. Fight it till you get it resolved in your favor, GOOD LUCK!

That reminds me of another point; I asked them if I should put a stock air box back on, after the first motor went. They told me that I don’t have to and it'll be fine.

Did you bring them just the motor or the hole sled? Did they clean your carbs, change your jetting? Most shops like to have the hole sled so they can run the motor and check the plugs. Do the pistons look the same this time as they did the last time it went down?
