I have been compiling a list of things to change out on my sled come tax time. Next on my list is skis. I have been looking at C&A's, U.S.I's and SLP's. I have heard many good things about all of them, but I would like some input on these brands before I drop some coin on a new set.
So tell me what you think of them...

well on my previous sled and current, i had C&A skis with a 7.5" shaper bar, i thought they were awesome skis, but i read about the slp Powder pro because i will be riding in the mountains and C&A's have NO FLOATATION AT ALL. so i got the slp powder pro skis.
NEEDLESS TO SAY, the SLP POWDER PROS handled better on the groomed trails, handled better when the trails are all torn up and loose, and float in the powder that i can find here. go with the powder pros, you wont be disappointed fat better ski than the C&A

ive always used simmons. you cant break them do matter how dumb you are and the steering is remarkable.....plus they float better than the SLP ones

depends on what you want them for... all-around the powder pros are tough to beat... i'm using slydog powderhounds now and like them a LOT... they dart less than ppros and actually float better (out in the fluff the 'dogs carve better as well), but, they don't bite as hard as the powder pros and need to setup for more ski pressure... once dialed though i'm very happy... worth a look if you want offtrail performance with nice trail cruising capability...

Most of riding will be running packed trails (abut 70%) I will be getting into deeper snow, if I can find it to play in.
Bonz, how are the Slydogs priced compared to the Powderpros?

i got them a touch cheaper, like 10 bucks or so... they are lighter and more flexible though so they absorb hits like the simmons... if you get them slydog will reccomend 4" w/o studs and 6" with... i'd say 6" is the minimum studded or not... 7.5" would prolyl be better imho...
to date, they are the best ski i've used in terms of eliminating darting though, they track down straights and across lakes better than anything i've tried...
edit - but the powder pros are better in junky conditions than the 'dogs are... that is the one area that the ppros shine over the dogs

I like C&As, add great floatation on water, i can go pretty slow on water with them. but thats my opinion, otherwise id say powder pros.

Depends what you ride. Its its strictly trails and want white skis C&A razors seem to be good. I haven't decided what to go with for next year I plan to buy a 06 switchback 600 HO and customizing it over the winter. Probably run the stock skis for the first year and if I want something different I will go with Red Powder pros as I hear alot about them. Simmons would be my second choice. If I want white though I will end up going with C&A razors or ADX. All my friends run C&As and like them but they run them because they either got a killer deal or wanted white ones. None of them ride off trail though except for 2 and they both run the 7 inch wide XTs.
The stock skis on the switchback seem really good though so maybe I will save that money and keep the stock ones.

I have the C&A razors don't dart at all! but they push in hard corners. I cut the outside vee out on both skis now they are how I hoped they be. I would get the adx if I went with the C&A the vee's on the outside of the ski's just make it push too much I think they make the ski tilt rather than dig in the corners.

Thanks for all the replys! I think I will go with the Powder Pros. They seem to be the best all around ski, since where I ride is already ripped to hell before I get there. But they should also do well in the loose snow too.

i ran the usi project x skis for the last two years and have changed to the powder pros for this year. the powder pros are much better in just about every catagory over the usi in my opinion. they float on the powder better and work much better in the trail. my sled is much more confident with the powder pros.

I was not in the market for ski's but my stock ski's required alot of preload on the front ski shocks to turn without pushing, and it still pushed. I did not like it.
I was at Haydays and found a pair of C&A's with two races on them for $150. I still don't know what model they are but they are either ADX's or Outlaws. They are 7.5" wide, have the 1" square keel on the bottom and square keels on both outside edges. They have the Shaper carbides.
I have never tried other skis but these things are phenomenal. Many people said they are very hard to turn. I was able to dial out almost all of the preload on the springs and this thing absolutely does not push at all even in a glare ice corner, does not dart one bit, and is not at all hard to turn. I love them.

Its taken me awhile to figure out the skis i want...but finally i think I'm gonna do the powder pros. It sure sounds like all pro x riders that i talk to are very happy with them not only in powder, but also on packed trails.

The stock skis perform just as good if not better than any of the after markets.

No comparison. Powder Pro's 7.5in shapers 168 picks. Great groomed trail setup.
