Background-

Sled was backfiring at times when the throttle would go from full to nothing.

Adjusted the throttle cable (it stretch a little in 1300 miles) so the thumb throttle is very close (1/16")to the micro switch at closed.

This helped allot.... but in 350 miles over the weekend, it backfired 2-3 times as in the scenario above.

Sled has new plugs and Fresh gas (89 ox, as in the Manual)

Any ideas? dunno.gif

Thanks,

a lot of backfires are caused by cracked reeds

The lever must close the pin at rest, not have a gap. You want only .010" to .030" gap from the lever to the main part of the throttle block.

Thanks pockets!

As I said "I Adjusted the throttle cable (it stretch a little in 1300 miles) so the thumb throttle is very close (1/16")to the micro switch at closed.

But with your help, sounds as I need to close the gap some more! I will do it today and report my findings!

Thanks Guys!

Once you set the throttle cable for the proper gap as I mentioned, check the oil pump setting, as tightening the cable will decrease the oil pump setting.
