hello all i have a question about my 1995 plaris xcr. the motor in it is a 580 monoblock out of a 1993 xlt. the motor worked very well in the xlt. this is my problem. in the xcr chassis the tach will pick to about 8000-8200 accelerating then once ya get to about 60-65mph ya can se the tach drop to about 7200rpm and hold. i do not think it is a motor problem becasue the motor will still pull speed but not very much. it looks like someone nmight have done something with the secondary clutching on the sled becasue ont he clutch ya can see ht ebolts have been played around with. also one more thing with the track in the air sled on the block when ya accelerate the motor will triwst about 3/4 to 11/2 inches. is this normal? any idea's would be very helpful, thanks much

Have the clutch alignment verified, set the engine torque stop tight, no air gap. Use a 3211070, 1042, 1045 belt. Set the belt deflection using the external adjuster so it is no more than 1 1/4". The primary clutch belt clearance should be .020". It should have a polaris gold or blue primary spring, 10M5 weights, (10M), red secondary spring #2, and a 34 helix, if it is stock clutching. Are you running the stock 34mm carbs, jetted stock, carbs vented to the handlebars? Airbox fitted properly? BR9ES plugs, plug cap resistance good? Also check the primary clutch for worn bushings, rollers, pins, weights, buttons. The secondary check the buttons.

not sure what is in the primary looks like a purple spring. not sure on the weights. used the xlt carbs, proper fit to airbox, also uses br9es plugs. the clutching was terrific in the xlt chasis not a problem at all. new plug caps carb vented right also
