ok, so i broke the center shock at teh begining of the season....broke it clean in half. now i broke the main rear dampener clean in half as well. im really getting sick of walker evens shocks and i havent had them more than a year yet. what is a really good replacement?

How high are you coming down when you break them? I think ryde fx are good and seem to me to have heavier tubes then the walkers. Depending what you want to spend I can't imagine you going wrong with ohlins.

i abuse then alot. both times they broke were from about 16 feet....i just need a shock than can be beat on a little harder and i heard that WE wernt noted as being a tough shock. maybe fox's? i had a pair on my last sled and they did really well.

to get fox shocks you would be into the high end ones and if I were spending that much I would get ohlins.

You land form that high up and expect to not break shocks? If you land to flat from that high, i dont care what you have for suspension they're gonna break. If you abuse them that bad you shoud lbe rebuilding them every ten rides or so.

Never heard of ANY one breaking a Ryde shock on a prox, look into getting a set of 2003 shocks off a prox or ohlins , you cant go wrong! your not the only post I have read on broken WE shocks...

Ok, heres the deal. You need to call W.E. in Cali and tell them your riding style, weight and so on. Then send the shocks to them and have them built to your exact requirements. This will prevent alot of future occurences. \
Another thing you need to realize is that you have long tracked a short track and changed geometries and torque that the old suspention used to work in and was designed for. When you long track a sled like that you put new forces on it. If you look at long tracks they have their rear torque arm mounted farther back, this puts less torque on the shock and allows it to transfer better.
If i were you i would look into getting them revalved for you since you are a bigger guy, i know this will help out a ton. Some people dont realise the effectivness that the correct valving will have on the ride of your sled. You can rely less on spring size and rebound and fine tune the actual shock. Hope this helps.
By the way, get in contact with me so we can ride.

have the shocks revalved or get a set of Ohlins, thats the way to go, the ohlins are the best so you are never wrong with a set of them , by the way there are better type of gaskets out there in the WE shocks, might be a option for you/A

Ohlins
Yopp the best= Ohlins, thats a fact, but a right tweaked WE shock should also produce a quality ride, maybe not as durable as the Ohlins, but then again, one can rebuild the shocks instead each year and know for a fact that they are good, hope i didnt confuse you when i spoke to you Lasse
yesterday, but their are some real gains by tune these pro-xes , and some parts in this sled need to be replaced, :beerchug: /Andre

DON'T get rydes or walkers, i've seen more failures in rydes then anything else, the reservoir design sucks on them, get ohlins or fox zero pro's or zero x's can't go wrong with them, i've got both ohlins, fox, and walkers, i like my fox's with the 5/8s shafts but ohlins are awesome, never let me down. Theres a good reason you don't see alot of iron doggers use these shocks.

If you need a set of front shocks i have a set off of the 05 iq race chassis that i have for sale for $450. These shocks have very little time on them, a few runs and thats it. Let me know if your interested. Plus these are beefier and valved a little better and alot more ajustable than the regular W.E.'s
