pull off the throttle body's and it's right there. if you run good oil you shouldn't have to mess with it.

or a palm-rachet, a long extension and a 10mm crowfoot.

get a cheap 10mm opened end wrench and bend the opened end 90 degrees to the body.do the bending in a vise and heat the area to be bent.grip the box end with vise grips and turn.it takes a little practice, but works without removing anything.

You may need to extend the length of that bent 10mm wrench to make the trip past the fuel system and still have something to hang on to.
AC sell a similar specialty tool for the job if you don't have the resources to make your own.
I just pull the airbox and carbs for easy access with standard hand tools.
Stock setting is usually around 50/1 ratio. You could lean down the ratio to 70/1 providing you're using synthetic oil or Blue Marble.

Its pretty easy to just remove the airbox, thats all I do.

But I have actual heard of some who just bend the cable/locknut mounting arm (not the pump arm). If you look at the arm it is angled slightly. They just stick a rod (old skag) between the carbs and bend it more upright to lean it.

Dr ZR,
The methods described are way too much work. With the EFI you will notice that you have a linkage from the TB to the oil pump....not like conventional cats with carbs. The linkage just pops off and you can adjust it on the bench and pop it back on. I have an 02 ZL 600 EFI that has the same set up and I have removed mine 3 times adjusting the pump down to the proper setting. I needed 8 turns to lengthin the linkage to reduce the oil consumption as I got less than 300 miles on the first gallon. I just used a long screwdriver to pop off the bottom first and then move the throttle to find the spot that the linkage will come off the top and pop it off.

Easy process that I have done with success. I use a long wood rod to help pop the linkage back on the pump.

Good luck

do as ronski says, but I also take off the bottom skid to acess things a little easier.

Sounds like a nice time saver to me.
