Good Morning HCS'ers!!!!!
Here we go---
Dande's and my trip started out on a high note on Friday, Jan. 27th, with
Dande leaving work early and we were on the road from the Twin Cities at 2pm
and heading for Bayfield, Wig. Three hours and forty five minutes later we
pulled into the Gary (Bayfield Rider) and Jackie's wonderful
Woodside Cottages . We were four hours ahead of the 2 other couples (Randy/Truckdriver and Barb /Dave and Nancy)
Click to view attachmentthat we were going to share and 3 bedroom cottage with, so we decided to hit the trails and head over to the Pub and Grub for a bite to eat and some refreshments. Got back at 10pm, after 25 miles, just as the others were arriving, socialized and 'hit the hay'.
After a hearty breakfast of Belgian Waffles and fruit we hit the trails. The
Great Thing about staying at the Woodside Cottages, as that Gary and his
brother Dick, if You like, will ride with your group for the day. With the
'inside knowledge' of the were the groomers had been and the fire roads, you
are assured of a great day on the trails. And even though we had been on the
trails in the Bayfield area, some of us many times before, Gary spent the
day with us and Dick went out with another group. An added feature this year
was Gary/Dick have Collett Communicators, so if you have them like Dande and
I do, you really feel 'contacted' during the day! Very nice addition!!!
i.e.. "Ron, U can get some good airtime coming up".
Saturdays ride provided plenty of snow to ride on and some great scenery!
Also we saw very few other riders, which we all agreed, made it feel like we
had the whole Bayfield peninsula to ourselves! So after about 80 miles, we
headed back to the Woodside, sat by the gas fireplace and relaxed and eat
Chile, dips, various munches and some refreshments! Then headed next door to
the Fore 'n Aft(bar/resturant) for some pool and refreshment! With the
forecast of 1-3 inches overnight, we headed to bed with thoughts of fresh
powder dancing in our heads.
Sunday morning brought us 1 inch of new snow at the Woodside Cottages but
Dick had went up on the hill to see how much had fallen up there and he said
he measured 4 inches of 'white gold'!!!! So we filled up on Eggs, hash
browns, Waffles, Fruit and Coffee. After a 'short' delay, due to Ronders
loose track and the help from Dick and Gary, we were on the trails. And to
our surprise, the snow fall total from the time Dick had measured, to the
time we started riding, had added 2 inches! So we were riding on 6 inches of
new snow!
Gary, his wife Jackie and Dick rode with us today. There were many areas
that we broke trail and we had a BLAST! Miles and Miles of freshly fallen
snow on the trails and the trees, made for a Winter Wonderland! And we did
not meet one single sled in the 75 miles we rode on Sunday! What a ride!

and amasing weekend we had spent in the Bayfield area and at the Woodside
Cottages. With the winter that we have been having in the upper midwest, you
just have to 'find' the snow to enjoy your passion, and the Bayfield area
has the snow to do that! And with the 'family' atmosphere that Gary, Jackie
and Dick

'High' notes.
Dande, "When are we going back?". Ronder, "Soon!"
