Does anyone on hear have any experience with the Waverunner listed above? dunno.gif It has about 110 hours and has recently developed a knock. I've checked compression and both cylinders are within a few pounds of each other, but I don't recall the numbers. It still runs strong, I have not lost any performance at all. I'm thinking (more like hoping) its a broken reed or stuck powervalve. I don't know where to begin, its farily easy to work on and I'm thinking of just diving in and checking the easy things. I should have posted this a few months ago, but now that their is no snow I need something to do...

Also, does anyone know of any good pwc forums?

Thanks in advance!

It might be a stuck power valve. I have an 03gp800r and it was acting the same way you described, if thats it replace them with the billet power valves. But it always can be something else.

Thanks for the reply. I have heard this other places too. How do the powervalves stick? Not quite sure how can rattle like that.

Thanks again! :div20:

They could stick from the carbon deposites from the oil, but I would't think it would cause a knocking. In my ski the power valves were hitting because they let loose and hit the pistons. So I had to get both the pistons replaced and new power valves put in. Try posting your problem on pwctoday.com, they always have helpfull info.

I used to own one of these.. I ran it to about 240 hrs and finally sold it.. The power valves were the biggest pain in the ass!

You have to buy an expensive gasket set and pull the whole exhaust apart every time you want to look at them.. I had to do it twice and then I finally just had enough with it and sold it.. Cleaning power valves on my arctic cat sled takes about 20 mins.. On the GP800 it could take all day considering all of the work involved and the tight space you have to work in.. Good luck getting a torque wrench in there!

Anyways.. Do a search for waveeater power valve clips on google.. He makes these special clips that help prevent the power valve from falling into the cylinder.. While you have it open you will definitely want to install those! Also the power valves had some sort of recall on them, if they have a brass coloured collar they are the bad ones and can break and fall into the cylinder.. Personally, I would sell it and buy something else like an ultra 150.. The GP hull rides like crap too.. I spent all kinds of time and money trying to stop it from porpoising and it still rode like crap.. Forget about taking a passenger unless they enjoy rodeo rides!
