Leaving Sat night from the Flint area and plan on staying Sat night in the mid UP somewhere. Plan on riding to Copper Harbor and back Tuesday evening and go home Wed morn. Any suggested places to stay, trails, routes (there and back)? Obviously want to spend less time in the truck and more on the sleds, but dont want to stretch out to many miles a day either. I figure 2-250 miles a day (700+/- total) should give us time to enjoy and deal with minor problems if neccessary. Dont want to back track trails on the way back if at all possible either. I have already ridden all northern and eastern UP trails and would like to include some southern and western trails in (snow permitting) in addition to the Keewenaw itself. Any ideas or suggestions appreciatted................ :div20:

If Mother Nature doesn't cooperate after this recent warmup, you're better off to stay to the north. Ride out from Seney or Munising. Good starting points. Enjoy.

With the trail between Chassell and Plainsdale closed and you only want 2-250 miles a day that would be tough to do in 3 days. Impeming is 200 miles by trail from St. Ignace. There are some no snow areas that you will have trouble with. Barga and lanse and Marquette to name a few. Have gone from Chatam to Copper Harbor and back which was pretty nice. The Chatam motel has nice rooms and is close to everything. Then stay at the Ramada in Houghton do copper and back and back to the truck the next day.

We'll be at least as far west as Gwinn now. Thinking Gwinn to Big Bay and up to Houghton Sunday night. Watch the game in Houghton/Hancock and ride up to Copper and back down on Monday. Tuesday back towards Gwinn and home Tuesday night/Wed morn.......

Is the trail from Barage to Houghton closed? Gay to Lake Linden? Where should we avoid?

We drove to Seney Thursday night, stayed behind Andy's bar ($40) went to Baraga, took #8 couldn't go any farther / rocks and lack of snow, if you could stay on the trail might be ok but 10 miles into town with no or little snow is a little much for me. We then went back to Ispaming stayed at the Best Western ($74) nice Hot tub. Saturday left went to Big Bay, a little choppy then to L'ance AWESOME for about 35 miles when you get close to town gets bad again then about overheated getting into town to get gas. When we had to come home Sunday it was snowing like crazy so Good Luck on your trip.

There has been snow in and around Baraga since then and getting a couple inches now. I heard the trail going to Houghton from Baraga is closed so we may just avoid Baraga all together anyhow.

Were leaving next weekend to go from Phelps to Copper Harbor. So we will be coming from Gogebic for the most part. Any problems with that route?
