Even though it rained, there is probably some good riding to be had if you know where to go. The problem may be getting there.

I am not sure how the conditions are in IP but I can tell you that it rained/poured hard all day in Central Vermont and the Mad River has flooded over its banks. I wouldn't count on the riding being any good in Vermont until it gets cold again, snows and the groomers are able to head out and clean things up.

This weather really blows.

Rain + warm temps = a long time before the streams and lakes freeze again. Even if we get 2 feet of snow in NEK, we still need very cold temps for a couple weeks before there will be any good riding.
MountainMan
I would no frost in the ground, = soft mud, and groomers that wont dare try to do anything till the water stops running and the ground freezes solid.

Well, I wasn't there today to see the meltdown, but as of Sunday, Rt 1 and the surrounding area were in good shape, not perfect, but good. The base seems to be solid, alot of ice, don't know if it changed back or not. There was alot of rain last weekend and I was surprised at how well the trails actually faired.

IMO, RT 1 could still be rideable, there was alot of snow in spots.

Just got off the phone with a "resident IP rider". There is some good riding on the higher elevation trails north and northeast of IP and the mountain trails southwest of town. Jay, you are right, getting in and out is difficult. Most of the local riders are sitting tight, waiting...just like everybody else.
