24/41 works good, but leaves a large dogleg in chain. Lot of guys are going with 25/42 for that reason.

Yes, try the 25-42. Then there is only one gear to buy and will be less chaincase noise. I went the 24-41 route and hate the noise. Love the pull though. Also only pulling 100 mph on the speedo now.. top speed before was around 115 (great conditions).

25-42 does work good but with the M-10 on the 800 with 192 picks and 1.25 trackI found I needed more yet and went 24/43.
No tensioner means no dogleg means no brake whine.
700 EDGEd you may want to check for bind in the clutches now since you may be shifting further? With 24/43 MPH went up vs stock 25/40, believe it or not. I have heard of the primary clutch reaching coil bind on the spring before full shift out on some clutches. Maybe worth checking into...

How would you go about checking for coil bind.
Next ride i want to remember to run a magic marker stripe up the clutch faces to see the shift out.

Oops thought you had an 02 sorry PM him anyway..
BTW if you have mechanical reverse the only bottom gears you can have a keep reverse if 39/40/41...
