I always knew the Farmer's Almanac was full of shit. Don't bother reading it unless your looking for recipes or shotting hours for deer season...

I tell you I'm seriously considering getting out of this sport. I can think of other stuff to do with my money. The ups and downs are getting too hard to handle.

Don't give up yet. We will get some snow this year and this current weather nightmare will be a distant thought.

I would think riding that sled would make you want to get out of the sport more than the weather!!!!!!!!!!!..............
I had too.....

Glad I spent almost $12,000.00 on a new sled and trailer this year - might really need the trailer to get to some snow before February ends............
I have had 2 nice rides this year lucky for me!!! Really hope for at least 4 more good trips to VT between now and March to make the pass I purchased at least a little worthwhile...............

I'll believe this forecast when I see it! Too many times my riding buds sit in front of the computer "watching it rain" while I'm in Vermont riding on fresh groomed trails with 6" of new snow! Guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm still going!!

Ya, but if you remember back to last year, and even the year before, late Dec. and early Jan. sucked. Then at the end of Jan., it turned cold and snowed. Feb. was great, and I rode well into March. One of the shitty things though is the sun is so much stronger later in the winter, and the snow goes away quick if there's not a good base.
I think I'll just medicate myself until the weather turns nicer.

I couldnt have said it any better. Last year, people were crying the blues about conditions as I was chalking up miles left and right.
2300 last year. Had some really sweet rides too.

I remember the start of last year being much like this year. We were in good shape in mid to late December before Christmas rains (this year) and New Years rains (last year) ate most of the snow pack. Last year it wasn't until the third week of January before we had enough snow to hit the trails again. Also, the way I remember it, last year wasn't a late season year either. I think it was the second or third week of the season that we had to pack it in. I definitely remeber having to trailer from Wheelock to Newark for my last ride because you couldn't get from Wheelock through the Burkes to the good stuff
I told myself I wasn't getting OUT of the sport, I just wasn't going to put any more $ into it. Then I go and buy my girlfriend a new sled :frech32:
I guess the snow will come. In the mean time...

Correction... SNOW forecasts are only right about 10% of the time. They usually hit the rain dead nuts !

Take a look at the forecast now as of 1/10/06 @ 8:00 PM. Looks like it might not be as disasterous as we thought earlier.
