Started at the Duxbury Store around 12:45. Plan was to ride up into Camel's Hump State Park to meet the Mad River Ridge Runners for their annual HotDog Roast. Trail from Duxbury Store into the park was OK. Plenty of open water bars, but trail was otherwise in decent shape. Once into the park, the riding was excellent. There is a logging operation near intersection WA61, but it hasn't hurt the trail too much. Most of the underlying ground is chewed up, but there is enough snow to cover any anomalies. Made our way further into the park to find the ridge runners finishing off their cheese filled hot dogs.

Most of the crew was heading home to watch the Giants game(a mistake, considering the outcome), but we rode with tonyvt and Art for a while thru the park. Conditions ranged from very good to excellent. Lower elevations had some open waterbars and exposed rocks but everything higher up was in great shaped. Nice and groomed.

At around 3:30 we decided to head home. Exiting the park we discovered the trail back towards the Duxbury store had been groomed and some of the waterbars and other dips had been filled. All in all, a good first day out.

ps We started in Stowe and stopped at the new Jimmz pizza in waterbury center on the way down for a slice. Jim said they are excited to have snowmobiliers this winter and that we should feel free to ride the sleds right up to the store. For those that don't know, Jimmz is along Route 100, in the brick house directly across the road from the Waterbury Center Sunoco Station. Up near Mansfield Motor Cars. Their is a secondary trail heading to th Sunoco station, so just cross Route 100 and you are there. Plenty of room to sit and warm up and the pizza is excellent, as well as reasonably priced.
