In the real world which engine is better a 4-tec V-1000 or Rotax 600. I am unable to find specification on the 100 but believe it as around 80 Hp the 600 has 103 HP. Does anyone know the torque figures. The 1000 4-tec should have more torque. Does anyone have experience comparing these two engines in the real world. Does the 4-tec V-100 appaer to have more power because of its torque?

I think the 600 or at least the 600HO has more like 120 HP If you are considering which one to buy I would opt for the 1000 4-TEK as it is more refined engine which will last longer. This comming from a 600HO owner.

As far as I am concerned, these are 2 completely different engines. I have a 600 cc Rev with carbs & 3300 miles. My friend has V1000 in Legend (1 up) and 8500 miles. His has good torque for hauling a log, pulling a 4x6 trail groomer, top speed about 80mph, good pick-up to 60mph, good on gas especially on slow trails, has less zip than his wife's '03 Legend 500, heavy front end handles very well, no 2stroke smoke, about the same power as a mid 90's Skidoo 500 liquid. I still like my rev 600 better for a fun ride. I think he likes his V1000 best of all. I see you have had Vk540 & other utility sleds. I think the 1000 would work well in one of those. I have talked to guys with AC 4 stroke Bearcats & they claim they are great too. :div20: :fluffy:

I own a 2004 Legend V-1000 2-up and also a 2003 MXZ 600 Trail. I agree with 2004mxz, they are completely different. The 600 is faster, but the Legend is my favorite for general trail and lake riding. The clutch engages at lower engine revs and is easier to control the speed, especially at slow speeds on twisty trails and corners. Acceleration from 0 to 60 is very good, top speed is 80 to 85. I typically don't go past 60 mph anyway so it doesn't matter to me. I call the Legend my "Luxury Cruiser", rides like a Cadillac.

There are still new leftover legends in N.H. with v-tec motors for sale. I think owens in hooksett has them. They also list them on ebay. You don't see many of them around here. plowking

I own a 2003 V-1000 Legend that I bought from Owen's Marine two years ago this month. I've got two winters on it and love it. It was a new, in the crate, leftover. It is a one-up Sport. I have owned a RX-1, a 800 triple Cat, F-6 Firecat, and a ZL 550 Cat in the last 5 years. The Legend is the slowest of them all. But, I get mine up to 90 on groomed trails that have set up for a couple days. I haven't changed any sprockets yet but want to add a tooth to the upper sprocket. The deceleration is fanominal. I've talked to guys that don't like this feature of the four stroke sleds but I still smile when riding this sled. This sled is the one sled I've owned that is the most fun to ride and have no plans to get rid of it. I'd like to get rid of the suitcase muffler and put some kind of pipe on it. I bet it will sound like a Ducati. I'd love it. I used to ride Harley's and miss the sound. I believe this engine is a 80 degree V-twin where the Ducati is a 90 degree and the Harley is a 45 degree twin. This sled is lighter than my RX-1 was but is heavier than the other sleds I've owned. I still put her through her paces in the gravel pits and big snowdrifts. I had her stuck many times from playing around like any other sled I've owned. I love this sled. For about a year now I thought I might like to try a REV chassis with this engine and was hoping BMP might offer a model. When I heard the 800 twin was coming out in a new chassis I got excited until I saw it. The new Legend is not what a REV is. I will still have to wait.
