I know, I know...make the 3 hour drive to the county and stop complaining. Lots of people have to trailer several hours to ride. Blah blah blah...

Well guess what...I need to be able to ride locally. It's January and I can't even putt around the house!!! passifier.gif

I'm sure I'm not the only frustrated one. With all the kids' activities I just don't have time to trailer. I have to get in my riding after work or quick trips from the house on the weekends.

Watching storms hit south of us an north of us isn't helping. Everytime we get anything it warms up to 40 degrees just before and we get rain. We don't even have a base!!! And I am going to lose it if my weatherman keeps referring to storms headed out to sea as 'good news'. Move to Florida if that's how you feel!

Maybe it's time to sell them all to buy something my family and I can use. I know once the snow hits I won't feel that way anymore, but man it's maddening to have 3 sleds sitting in the garage on January 3rd with zero miles on for the season so far.

Just needed to rant...feel free to add yours!!
Doobraap
Please do sell your sled. It will surely snow like crazy then grinning-smiley-023.gif The rest of us will thank you !!

Yes, for some reason we keep ending up in the 'low snow' section on the forecast map. Southern Maine gets pounded by the coastal storms, and Western/Northern Maine gets dumped on by the storms that track through the Great Lakes. We get little or nothing from either. The last 2 years we have gotten major storms in late December that were immediately followed by significant rain and warm temps. Then we wait until late January/early February before we get enough snow to ride. Makes for a very short season for sure! I can ride my bike 7 months out of the year, my sled maybe 7 weeks. And the sled cost more! :banghead:

Go North young man...we are heading to The County on Thursday and we'll pass Central Maine on the way up.

Ps - I graduated from Hampden in '89.

Hey Cravenfan, I had a lot of friends from '89! I graduated in '90... PM me your name if you want. Maybe we know each other!

Newport is definitely Central Maine. And yes, it's awesome being able to ride from your house. I know I am spoiled in that way. I lived in Limestone (next to Caribou) before my family moved here, so I have never had to trailer anywhere to ride. The trail goes right through my yard here in Hampden. Trails aren't perfect when we do have snow, but it's a short ride to Newburgh/Dixmont, and a nice ride to Newport. I can go all the way to Greenville if I'm ambitious (never been THAT ambitious!).

I am sure it will snow sooner or later, I was just hoping for a good long season for a change. I will head to the county if I have to, just really takes a lot of the fun out of it for me. It's hard to find that much free time!

And the weather man I was referring to was Mannix. He has this smug little grin when he gets to report that the snow we're all hoping for 'is going to miss us' or has turned into a 'rain event'. He all but breaks into tears when we are actually going to get dumped on. My Dad used to yell at the screen when we lived in the County and he was the weatherman up there... Move to Florida already!!
Millinocket Rocket
ya-- i agree about kevin mannix. he really gets on my nerves. i like the new guy mark rosenthal (channel 13 in so. me.) he likes the snow, and seems to get irritated with with all these near misses and rain crap.
Nattydread
Rosenthal is from my old home, Massachusetts, he isnt half bad... I am not a fan of Kevin Panics either, I do like Tom Chisholm though....
Stuck Again
Mannix laughes like a red squirl.
