Just found this forum looks good and i have a question i hope someone can answer....

After lending out the SRX in the end of the 04 season :frech32: i ended up without a sled 4 a year. I have just recently purchased a 04 600 SDI REV and i am now currently sitting at home dunno.gif . I had put on 400 klms b4 the battery light started 2 flash and within minutes the sled shut down. I purchased a new battery but that was not the problem and i am now waitng 4 the sled to b looked at by a dealership. Has anyone ever heard of a problem with the SDI's, or have any positive comments?

Thanks

Thanks 4 the quick reply, i have checked both the harness and the fuse. It may be a bigger problem. I am not the greatest mechanic and my knowledge of sleds is lacking but i am learning. What the hell does a stator do? and could that possibly b the problem :help:

I had the same problem with my 04 600 SDI gade. Got decent dealer supoport on it and they swaped batteries a couple of times and problem was still there, they changed out the voltage regulator and we though we got it untill the problem manifested itself when I was out West (Golden) one time. I tried to band-aiod the problem with a small charger that I would put on it every time I got back from riding and that would get me through a day of riding but eventually the bar warmers gave up and the headlight was really not what it shoudl have been. Finnaly got pissed and took it back to my dealer and turns out the stator is bad and has been my problem all the way along, apparently it was shorting out as the load requirement increased. So I am into my second year and I firugre no problem, warranty it was a problem that has simply taken thing long to be diagnosed and at worst the BESt program should cover it, 2nd year engine coverage shoudl include the staor right? WRONG! Dealer makes like he is doing me a favor and gets it covered, worked out find but really that should have been a none issue. Anyways I would say your stator is on its way out and the checks at idle may not show this but when the need for power is there at RPM the poroblem will be there. And if the dealer suggests that you put a big battery in that will only make the problem go awat for longer times between the failures its not a fix just a band-aid like the charger was for me.

Good luck.

The stator is about $450.00 plus taxes and the labor is about an hour min.
Ya,your looking at a $500.00 plus bill if you take it to the dealer.
Goodluck dude....... :beerchug:

The dealer I used and had dealt with for about 10 years was out of town. I am not going to name names. :no_bashing: But after a series of other issues related to questionable mechanical service and poor customer service and spending a stupid amount of money over the past 10 years I have changed dealers and will not go back. Its too bad cause I liked the original dealer.

In defence of the dealer and any other that you might go to, BRP is terrible when it comes to supporting there dealers on service issues. If you can't get it sorted out and the dealers says he can't warranty it I can say with fair certainty that if you call BRP direct and complain you will get the coverage you need, they are pathetic when it comes to back stabbing there dealers after they tell the dealer to go back to the customer and tell him he is out of luck.

If you have a good relaitonship wtih your dealer and don't want to ruffle any feathers and can't get anywhere the chance is he could always put the warranty through on another sled that still has coverage but there is some risk for the dealer there but some will stick there neck out for you if you have a good relationship with them.

Good Luck
