It won't idle down after a run. It will hang up about 3800. You can choke it down and it will stay. Any ideas? Airscrew? It had been converted to low altitude 0-2000ft. Also, the DET control seems overly sensitive. It doesn't show up on the reg. setting. Only the premium curve.

I think it runs too lean, both on idle and mainpilot. Try the airscrew for idle adjustment and bigger mainpilot if you run on premium.

That is not unusual. You could richen the fuel screws slightly, but it will then run richer at 1/4 throttle. The RMK needs good 91 octane fuel, as they usually put tighter heads on them, and a bit hotter ign. Same part number for the heads, but the factory chooses tighter ones for those engines.

hey pockets, this is my sled and tcat is workin on it...he is a cat guy and is wondering whats up -
dealer put 450 mains in it, but left the needles in the #2 position. my jetting chart says should be 450 mains with needle in #4 position. he is wondering which way to move needle to get it into #4. could this be the source of high idle/lean? sled is bone stock save for jetting and 10-66 weights for 0-2000 feet. oh, and should the 45 pilots be ok?
thanks for your help man!

I picked the needles up to the 4 position and went an extra quarter turn on the fuel screws from stock. The sled idles nice and the DET light quit flashing. I think that may have taken care of it.

#2 is too lean for sure, #3 or 4 if it is really cold. To have the best possible mileage, get some 1/2 step needle shims from SLP, or thunder products 5/20 shim kit, and run it in #3 with a 1/2 step shim under the metal clip. This is as rich as you need, and will give better mileage than #4.

one thing you might want to look at is if your PTO Crank seal took a crap! it usually happens if you blow a belt. did it just all of a sudden have a high idle or was it always like that?
I had to do it to my 04 800 just the other day, the seal is only like 25.00 but you have to pull the motor and split the case to change it.
if you blew a belt most likley you are sucking air into your pto cyl, and that could be causing your DET light to come on
