Just wondering if groomer operators have any required training, certification, or
license requirements in Michigan.
I can see where some advanced first aid would be helpful, but is anything required?

Not sure about Mich. but here in Minn. nothing is required except knowing how to operate a piece of equipment. preferably knowledge of running a Cat since you will have to use the front Blade along with the Drag behind at the same time. Any good operator can teach ya how it is done in a couple of trips. I train the guys who run our clubs groomer, and do most of the grooming since i am off for the winter

Thanks for all the info guys!!

Was supposed to go for a ride with the club President today to start "training"
but our groomer has tracks on it, not Monster Mudders!! Warm weather and a fine mist for two days straight. When I talked to him yesterday, he told me that one of the sprokets broke Sunday when they were out. New one should be in Thursday.
Get to start my "training" Friday, with a wrench!!! LOL.

Knowing how to fix it is as important as knowing how to operate it, I spend countless days and hours working on ours when it breaks down, speaking of that is what I am doing tommarrow for most of the day gotta do some welding on the drag and get it ready to go for Sunday night

We have to all be certified in Iowa to run the groomers. Yes, knowledge of working on them is very helpful, seems they break constantly at least our tucker does. I'm sure there are better ones out there that are less maintanence then this thing is I hope anyway. tracks and wheels are big issue and the front pivot i had to machine out a new to strengthen it up, and weld on the drag many times.

:div20: dance_2.gif Here in PQ we don't need a training... However it help's if you are a mechanicaly inclined, people person, security guard. A big round of applause for all our drivers & especially Eric ( my guy) who's got over 120 hours on the groomer already and he only does half of our territory. :div20: :div20:
